Synopsis

The latest otome game is all the rage recently, so a regular university student decides to see for herself if its fame is well-deserved. She clears the normal mode in no time and finds herself pitying the villainess, Penelope Eckhart. Penelope is a fake―a replacement for the duke's missing daughter, the protagonist of the game.

Initially confident about clearing the hard mode as well, the woman is shocked by the sheer leap in the level of difficulty, eventually passing out from exhaustion. However, when she wakes up, she no longer recognizes her surroundings, for she has been reincarnated into the body of the villainess!

In a world where everyone seems to be out for her blood, Penelope must make wise decisions that keep her away from the death route. A tyrant prince, a suspicious magician, a nobleman from a fallen nation, or one of her nasty adoptive brothers―whose affections will she win?

Villains Are Destined to Die is an adaptation of Gwon Gyeoeul's Agyeok-ui Ending Jugeum-ppun web novel series. It is originally a webtoon series which has been officially published in book format by D&C Webtoon Biz (디앤씨웹툰비즈) since February 26, 2021.

The series has been published digitally in English by Tapas since October 24, 2020. The volumes have been published by Yen Press under the Ize Press imprint since November 8, 2022.

This manhwa made the classic historical novel isekai into a whole different plot.

To start, a brief overview of the beginning and how it starts. This manhwa begins with a girl who decides to play a popular dating game and is instantly hooked by the in depth gameplay and difficulty. The game contains 2 modes: Normal and Hard, the normal mode, who you play as Yvonne; the lost Eckart household’s daughter. And Penelope, the hated and disgraced villainess. In which the main character becomes Penelope and must obtain the 100% favorability of one of the male interests to survive.

For context, I read up to season 5 chapter 187 ish, where a lot of the mysteries have been answered. I will say this as someone who initially rated it a 10/10, don't get your hopes up. At the same time, it seems like my reading experience is vastly different from the other readers.

The general flow of the story involves Penelope (mc) going against the flow and rejecting everyone due to "injustice" or "why should I accept your apology". FL gets trapped in an otome game as the villainess (hard mode) and the "game system" essentially forces quests on to her. She must make careful moves to survive, and capture one of the romance targets. A single mistake could immediately result in her death.

I'm at the climax (chapter 203), and the story will probably end in 20-30 chapters.
