Synopsis

When humanity was oppressed by mysterious foes known as the Celestial Hosts, five exceptional mages joined forces to defeat them. In fear that these formidable enemies would return, the five most powerful mages, known as the Magia Vander, built a magical dome and a tower to contain them. Since then, the five strongest mages of every generation are tasked with monitoring the dome from the top of the Wizard's Tower.

Inspired by this story, childhood friends Will Serfort and Elfaria Albis Serfort promised each other that they would climb to the top of the Wizard's Tower. However, now a sixth-year student at Regarden Magic Academy, Will's future looks bleak. Although Elfaria managed to join the ranks of the Magia Vander five years prior thanks to her unparalleled magical power, Will has no magical abilities whatsoever, attracting the ire of teachers and students alike.

However, blessed with an exceptional physique, Will is able to slay monsters in the labyrinth and prevail against skilled magicians with the only aid of his sword and a few magical items. Determined to climb the Wizard's Tower at all cost, Will is determined to not let anyone or anything prevent him from keeping the promise he made to Elfaria.

The animation and character design in Wistoria are delightful, but I believe what truly captivates its audience is the opportunity to wander through such a fun world of magic. As part of a generation that grew up influenced by a certain highly acclaimed work set in a world of magic—which I personally no longer support due to conflicting opinions with its author—I feel there's always a yearning in my heart to find whimsical universes of magic, and Wistoria delivered that for me.

To be completely honest, Urbus Regarden still has a lot of untapped potential. I believe the demands for conflict in a typical Shounen anime ...

Mixed Feelings
Decided to watch it after reading the synopsis. I would suggest it to people who liked animes like black clover or mashle. I have watched a good amount of magic type of animes and i thought i would get bored but the characters really pulled me in. especially the mc, for some reason he reminded me of deku from mha. him and sion ( red hair dude) lowkey gave me deku and bakugo vibes. apart from that, I liked all the characters personalities. and the pacing was pretty good. If your a new anime watcher and love flashy fight scenes, would totally reccomend.

I can understand why my virgin anime friend recommended this to me, but for me, nothing in this series is new, and none of the tropes are executed well enough to be truly interesting.

The main hook for most people would be the animation quality. However, it’s a magic-based power system, so does it really matter if it’s just better-looking dull magic circles spitting fire everywhere? As for the world, you get nothing but a lazy, generic copy of every other fantasy anime.

That said, the anime isn’t bad for what it is. I’d only recommend it if you haven’t already watched a handful of magical academy ...
