Synopsis

It is just another ordinary day for Satoru Mikami. The sun is shining brightly on the streets of Tokyo, and he is in the midst of a discussion with his colleagues when suddenly he gets stabbed by a passing robber. The average 37-year-old corporate worker is now at death's door, and he has only one regret—dying a virgin. Fading out, he is startled by a mysterious AI-like voice reciting commands.

Satoru abruptly wakes up in the middle of a strange cave, but something odd has happened: he is now a goop of slime! Thanks to his new body, he has acquired the skill to absorb anything and obtain its appearance and abilities. While testing out his newfound powers and exploring the cave, he stumbles upon a massive dragon named Veldora, who has been sealed away for the past three hundred years. After quickly befriending the beast, Satoru decides to help him escape; in exchange, Satoru is bestowed a new name: "Rimuru Tempest."

Wishing to avoid a life like his boring and mundane past, Rimuru is about to set out on a grand quest that will change his own destiny and the fate of his new world.

Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken has been published in English as That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime by Kodansha Comics USA since August 22, 2017, and as 3-in-1 omnibus volumes since April 2, 2024. The series has also been simulpub through K Manga.

The series won the 46th Kodansha Manga Award in the shounen manga category in 2022.

Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken is one of the most different Isekai I've ever seen.

When I started watching this series it seemed like just another generic Isekai (fun but generic) but that's not what happened. I feel like as the story progressed it brought up more themes of tribal problems and politics. This is something you rarely see in an Isekai world. I remember seeing this only in Overlord and Log Horizon.

The way the series progressed was very coherent and fun to follow. The characters have their own plots that make them captivating to read. One downside is that over time some characters start to ... leave their own plots aside (at least they're not worked on in the series anymore).

The writing is full of dialogues and texts, so for those who like to read, this series has a lot of dialogues (not as much as Hunter x Hunter).

Like all Isekai, the protagonist ends up becoming very strong for the standards of that world. However, I like the fact that although Rimuru is strong, he is not invincible, at least not if we consider the demon lords. In addition, there are also political disputes, which the plot balances very well on all sides to create suspense in the story.

Overall, I had fun reading this work and that's why I give it an 8 since I enjoy reading it and I also feel that it has good depth.

Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken é um dos Isekai mais diferentes que já vi.

Quando comecei a ver essa obra ela parecia ser apenas mais um Isekai genérico (divertido mas genérico) mas não foi isso que aconteceu, sinto que com o avanço da historia foi se trazendo mais esses temas de problemas de tribos e politica isso em um mundo de Isekai é algo que raramente se vê, lembro-me de ver isso apenas em Overlord e Log Horizon.

O jeito que a obra avança foi bem coerente e divertido de acompanhar, os personagens tem suas próprias tramas que tornam eles cativantes de se ler. Um lado negativo é que com o tempo alguns personagens vão deixando suas próprias tramas de lado (ao menos não é mais trabalhada na obra).

A escrita é cheia de diálogos e textos então para quem gosta de ler, essa obra apresenta muitos diálogos (não tanto quanto Hunter x Hunter).

Como todo Isekai o protagonista acaba virando muito forte para os padrões daquele mundo entretanto, gosto do fato de que apesar do Rimuru ser forte, ele não é invencível, ao menos não se considerarmos os lorde demônio, fora isso tem tambem as disputas politicas que nisso sim a trama equilibra muito bem todos os lados para dar um suspense na trama.

No geral me diverti lendo essa obra e por isso dou uma nota 8 já que gosto de lê-la e tambem sinto que tem uma boa profundidade.

Slimesekai.

It is a painfully average story.

That's it really. There's no factors in Slimesekai that you can't find done better somewhere else.

The only interesting facet of Slimesekai is the idea of reincarnating as a slime, and it's ruined within two chapters when the slime is A: not weak at the fuck all, B: not challenged by literally anything, and C: has no reason to even be a slime.

Ever played Terraria? Dragon Quest? Final Fantasy? Do you remember slimes being able to eat literally anything, absorb skills and attributes of those things, and just do generally unrealistic actions like shooting swords of water?

Artstyle and character design are generic, forgettable at worst.

The only notable thing I like is a specific Orc's tanky armor much later in the story. It looked kinda cool~
