I can help you a bit. For one thing stay clear from ordering anything that was packaged in countries like Malasia. Also animenewsnetwork.com encyclopedia is your best friend when it comes to double checking regional releases SKU (Stock Keeping Unit), UPC (Universal Product Code), and ISBN (International Standard Book Number) references to back up authoring if the packaging offers them visibly.
animenewsnetwork.com encyclopedia is great, because checking individual releases, you can double check if the art matches too in their preview images and sometimes they offer info on what to expect to get if it was an Artbox release that might have originally come with some collectable swag.
Most DVD and Blu-ray authoring have holo text or coding pressed into the actual disc as you can see in the images. If a DVD or Blu-ray lacks them or they don't line with an official authoring, chances are high it's a counterfeit copy or even a professionally pressed counterfeit (which is basically still no different other than slight degraded video quality but still a counterfeit).
Yeah I would probably be on the look out for the "RahXephon the Motion Picture: Pluralitas Concentio" collection, it looks like the most impressive of the collections sets to me. I usually avoid thin pack collection when I can, unless there is something extremely special about it.
You are a bigger fan of a "RahXephon", than I am a "Kiddy Grade" fan. lol
Only missing out on getting an Éclair and Lumière figure to place on a shelf next to my collection. lol
Either way, you got a really impressive "RahXephon" collection going on, really think that's cool. :)
Thanks for the add fellow physical media collector :)
BTW added note about stock photo sellers. Always hate it when reading description like this...
Condition Notes: An item with obvious and significant wear but is still operational. May have tears or holes in DVD box. The video game instructions and box may not be included.
Like what the fuck... it's not a video game, just take the time to explain how it actually visually looks. Bad enough to use a stock photo and also a canned description too? lol
From italy :3 I'll generally only import if something's not been released over here, and by import i mean UK editions or French editions that were released in multilanguage on vinted or amazon with ridiculously cheap shipping (though i have seen the occasional US import on there, but yet to get any), i don't have that kind of cash xD or better, i'd rather save that cash to actually fly to places and just buy things there
Would love to get some OG japanese editions but my japanese ain't good enough yet to watch entirely without subs
Favs in my collection?
I guess top no.1 is Code Geass as it was also the hardest to find, it's out of print and generelly resold for 100s of € per season but i managed to snag them for under 50 each
Soul Eater's another one that's really hard to find for a good price, but i'm still missing the last box
Managed to get some really nice Fullmetal Alchemist boxsets for both series
Really niche series i have is Youkai Ningen Bem, it's a 1960s horror anime that became a cult classic over here
And i have to give props to Fruits Basket for kicking off the insanity of buying series blind, i bought it on a whim (UK edition as it never got an italian release) cuz i was using the series for an anime watching challenge and the internet completely broke down, so no streaming unless i used overpriced crappy data

Also to check for counterfeits, I will reference you to this thread that I created... https://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=2263894
