Synopsis

Naori Shida is a college student who loves making alcoholic drinks but has no friends to share them with. At a mixer, she meets Hinata Ibuki, who she ends up taking home with her. After making her a drink, Naori discovers that Hinata is an ogre girl descended from Shuten-douji who needs alcohol to live, can only drink alcohol offered to her by humans, and grows horns whenever she drinks. Thus, Hinata decides to make Naori her personal bartender.

Lovely work. Natori and Hinata have an extremely magnetic aura, their relationship not only to each other but to alcohol as well is core to the story. Alcohol carries a different weight to each of them but it all comes together through their shared earnest appreciation for it and the company they give each other. It makes each of their drinking sessions so intimate and you can't help but bounce your knee waiting for the next time they can get a moment together.

They are far from the only interesting pair in this work. There's a human doctor and nurse oni pair, and an idol oni ...

This manga is seriously underrated!

If you like japanese mythology, cute girls, yuri, and alcohol then this manga is for you.
Alcohol and Oni Girls strikes a perfect balance between cute slice of life and high stakes action that'll leave you asking for another round. The dynamic between the main characters is grounded and fun, despite the semi-fantastical setting of an Oni falling in love with a human. As a long time yuri fan I cannot wholeheartedly recommend this manga enough, and I can only hope that someday it becomes popular enough to have an anime adaptation too. Please give it a read!

For those who've read/watched Call of the Night (aka Yofukashi no Uta), this manga is literally just that same plot done again but swap the vampires with ogres, put it in a college setting, spice it up with some yuri, throw in a stupidly vast showcase of different alcoholic beverages for good measure and you got yourself 'Alcohol and Ogre-girls'. All jokes aside this manga is nothing less than adorable.

The dynamic between the two lead girls is executed brilliantly. They're both plunged into the ironic power dynamic where Hinata Ibuki, the all-powerful ogre-girl and social butterfly, is solely reliant upon Naori Shida to provide her ...
