A slightly above average, extended episode of Cardcaptor Sakura, but even just a bit above average for this series means that it's quite good, If nothing else, you're guaranteed some of the cutest character interactions you'll see and plenty of UEEE's and ehehehe's from Sakura herself. Like the series itself it is just gorgeous, amazing parallaxing with more layers than you could imagine and great attention to detail with the flow of hair and fabrics. Maybe the most interesting aspect of this first Sakura movie is how it interpolates scenes from Stalker (1979). It's not the first time Clamp have been inspired by media in completely different ballgames, but this is certainly a wild choice, and it works. The film being a side story and not necessary for the story to progress, it does lack the punch of the better episodes of the main series, but if you, like me, was craving another hit of Clamp goodness, this will scratch that itch. All the fujobait and cute outfit designs you'd want from an 80 minute fare.
