Preliminary (235/? chp)
This is not going to be a story for everyone, and it does not pull punches with how it starts off either. Miyagi asks Sendai to lick her foot, and Sendai, for whatever reason, obliges. Miyagi never threatens her with either violence or ruining her reputation at school, she's in fact very respectful of this and prefers to treat her room as a separate space from the world outside - a space where only her and Sendai can exist, and the things they do and say to each other carry no weight outside of it. Sendai doesn't need the money either. Even then, Miyagi continues to treat her rudely, asks the most of her, and Sendai obliges with little to no protest.

But why? This seems like a frustrating dynamic to read about, and it is. Miyagi and Sendai are always making decisions that make you want to tear your hair out. But Haneda Usa is a brilliant writer, and chapter by chapter you watch these characters slowly change themselves to fit each other's lives. Make no mistake, the sexual nature of the story never cedes. The foot licking is only the start. This is a story about control and loyalty, orders and promises, as much as it is about patience, love and trauma.

Miyagi is probably my favorite character of the main pairing, she is also arguably the most difficult in that she has the most walls to work through (for Sendai, I see her problems more as a self-restraint thing, IYKYK). Miyagi acts like there's a ticking time bomb over her head that only she knows about, and when the timer counts down she'll go back to the bland life she deserves. Every 5000 yen bill, every order she puts out for Sendai, acts as a short delay to this inevitable (to her) fate.

A Lovely story... do give this a chance. Reading it has genuinely been a journey.
