(1) Story: i LOVE the story, it is a bit towards the shallow end (not too shallow, but well the anime is not fully adapted yet so we dont know the entire context but yes) but as more episodes come out and with the progression of the anime, i assure you sticking with the series is probably the best decision you will ever take. The main plot of the anime revolves around kirishima learning empathy and responsibility, hence taking care of the 7 year old daughter, if you came here for mercilessness, then you will start seeing less of it as the series continues.
(2) Characters: Charming. There is nothing else to say, Kirishima is very likeable as a character and honestly the side characters too fit in so well in the series, you will love the characters if you love slice of life animes. There is a sort of balance, there are comedic scenes too, action scenes too and emotional scenes too, so it is not heavily disproportionate like many slice of life animes, it is a perfect balance of characters.
