Nothing much to say here. This show promises great fights and delivers exactly that with great animation. The other characters are pretty good and introduced in a way that the cast doesn't feel bloated or unnecessary since they have different roles and they're never all in the same place at the same time. I like that most of them aren't set up as the usual "misunderstood heroes" but they're mostly actual scumbags that deserved their treatment. The demon blights are one-note so far but since it seems like an introductory season more than anything, it's fine. It's clearly setting up to actual villains later on.

This is quite a mess. The entire anime is about introducing a million characters and ATTEMPTING to make them fight against each other... except after 30 seconds someone will always interrupt their fight, and the characters would be like "eh, I don't feel like it anymore, maybe next time bye". Seriously. I'm not exaggerating, it happens every single episode. I do like the characters and what we see of the "fights", but man, this is SO frustrating... the animation mostly carried this season. For people that are looking to start this, I recommend you just wait until next season and ...

This is basically a filler season unless you really care about Chu Zihang. The first 2 and last 2 episodes are pretty good, then there are 20 episodes of the main characters just floundering around until the predictable plot twist (seriously, who else could it have been?). I'm sure there ARE some plot relevant snippets in those 20 episodes... like that scene in the alley... maybe 10 minutes tops. For what it's worth, Chu Zihang is a good character, if he wasnt this season would have just been unwatchable, but as it is, it's just OK. OP is good. Animation is good. Finger does get

I just don't see what's to like here.
The visuals are pretty good, to the show's credit... but everything else? For an episodic "mystery" anime, the mysteries are terrible. They are uninteresting and mundane, which wouldn't be a problem (since the show is about MC trying to be "ordinary") if they weren't always solved by wild guessing and just happening to get it right. Or have the obvious solution shown to you but then overthinking on it for 3 episodes. The show will obviously pretend this is some high IQ sherlock move. Then, maybe, you'd be led to think that the main appeal of the show ...

This anime was just recaps from the previous season... which was already recycled material from the original higurashi.
The plot is downright nonsensical and all the characters you loved in the original Higurashi are either irrelevant or have butchered characterization (remember Rika caring about her friends? the writers sure don't, she'd kill them all if it meant being with her gay lover Satoko). Oh, but it has an umineko reference at the end, wow! I guess ruining higurashi was worth it then. Jesus christ. Do not ever watch this. It's up there with Mayoiga as one of the worst anime I've ever watched. I pity the poor ... |
