This show is basically the definition of fun-bad. Like.... sometimes I'm genuinely flabbergasted at how bad it is from a writing standpoint, especially because it so obviously tries to give false hope to lonely guys, yet I still click that next episode each and every damn time, and I don't plan on stopping for as long as they give me more because... well, it's fun-bad. Another thing is that the art style is really good IMO.
Should you give it a shot if you like what you read me write above? Absolutely. Should you watch a second episode if you don't enjoy the first one? HELL
...
NAH. This show completely bypasses the 3-episode rule and turns it into 1-episode rule, because even as someone that enjoys it it's safe to say that if you don't like it and don't see any potential for liking it during the first episode, you're definitely not gonna vibe with it going forward.

I need to make something clear right at the start - the story is really good and it is the reason why I have the manga in my plan-to-read, since I'm hoping that the manga presents the story in a cohesive and well-paced way, because the movie certainly doesn't.
Starting with the positives - the movie looks beautiful visually, which I was expecting because it's Kyoto Animation behind it, but I was still a bit surprised. The same can be said about voice acting, Japan is known for having awesome voice actors, and this movie goes to prove that statement more, some scenes actually gave me
...
chills. That's about all the positives I have, though....
The negative aspects are pretty serious but can be boiled down to one word - pacing. It is such a fast-paced movie that it's genuinely just extremely confusing and incohesive. Without spoiling anything I can tell you that at one part of the movie we see the characters in two time periods - being the past and the present - which the movie jumps between occasionally. It is supposed to put the present in context with the past I believe, and it would've worked.... if this was a 1 season anime. But it isn't a 1 season anime, it's a 2-hour movie, which results in it being so fast that I often wasn't certain whether I'm watching the past or the present at all. Obviously, that shouldn't happen. The pacing problem doesn't stop after we see all of the past though, it just makes the rest of the movie feel all over the place because things change so often. I'm not gonna say what the scene had going on, but there was a very pivotal and important scene in the movie in it's second half which is supposed to be quite an emotional scene, and it would've been.... if I hadn't been confused trying to wrap my head around what happened before, leading to all it achieving being more confusion.
To summarise - the story is most definitely not the issue in this movie, and it could've been a really masterful episodic anime. But as a movie.... it just doesn't work at all, because of it being so fast that it's genuinely just confusing and hard to follow. That's why I genuinely cannot recommend this movie.

I was really hyped for this manga, because everyone keeps glazing it so much. But after reading it I came to the conclusion that I shouldn't trust people's hype and recommendations as much, because it was just.... ok. Not something amazing but not something horrible either.
First of all I have to mention that the art is 10/10. Like, I was looking at the pages impressed with the quality of the drawings on a regular basis. The only other manga where I do that is Berserk, which says a lot about the quality of the art here. I still remember some of the designs (although I
...
have long forgotten the context in the story) years after reading it because they were really unique and good, which makes sense since from what I know the author bases his manga on things which he actually finds scary to some extent, and you can really tell.
But then we get to the story, and.... well, it's mid. It's not the least bit immersive, you don't really care for any of the characters or the world in general because they just don't feel the least bit real. The story just felt like an excuse for the author to get to draw cool-looking scary stuff, leading to a forgettable experience. And since the characters are only there to move an excuse of a story forward, you don't really care or remember any of them either. The only part of the story which I really liked was the way it ends, because the ending was pretty unique, but I'm obviously not gonna go into detail about it. All I will say is that I still remember the last panel because it was genuinely amazing.
Overall I would say that it's decent and enjoyable, but don't expect it to be a really great story which you'll remember for any longer than a month after finishing the series, because it really isn't that. But when you compare it to your average horror manga it IS better, but that just means that the bar for horror manga is set so low in terms of storytelling and art that when you have a manga where the art alone is exceptionally good, many people just forgive a lackluster story.

This anime is an anime filled with both hyperbole and realistic depictions of germophobia which I as a germophobe really appreciated seeing, since even though they're presented in their most extreme form, it's still not too far-fetched to be impossible (most of the time). If you're looking for a football anime, this isn't the one for you (even though the animation is still better than Bluelock S2). But if you're looking for a short, comedic relief which will make you consider finding a fan-translation of the manga (since there is no official english release as far as I could find) to compensate for the lack

of a season 2, this is one of them.
Art style - very subjective category, but I myself love it. 8/10.
Animation quality - it often has still frames during football matches, but outside of them it's great. Definitely the weakest part though. 6/10.
Characters - In terms of realism a lot of the side-cast lags behind, but most are hilarious. 8/10
Story - very basic but enjoyable. 7/10
Germophobia depictions - Sometimes it's legit unrealistic, but it's mostly an extreme, yet still plausible state of germophobia and there were often elements which I loved seeing because I could relate so hard. I felt that someone understands it for the first time in my life. The next quadruple bracket contains an example which I really liked to see which is a mild spoiler so don't continue reading if you don't want to see it. 9/10
((((There is a part where Aoyama finds one particular person whose touch he for some reason, which he himself can't pinpoint, doesn't mind. I really appreciated this because it really works that way sometimes.))))
