Snowball Earth

Normally, I wouldn't post a review of a show that hasn't finished airing (mostly since I've been actually forgetting to update my Anime list) but.. dude. Snowball Earth does not deserve this sort of score.

Snowball Earth -- at it's core, is a story about friendship and human loss. It's a show that uses the quirkyness of it's characters to a genuinely interesting degree, making them just.. trying to pass by in a post-apocalyptic world. It's very reminiscent of Gurren Lagann or Back Arrow (if you've seen that one), and I think it's the type of fun anime needs. Now, it is not a perfect show ... by any means.

Of course, I still think the series goes a bit too slow for it's own good sometimes. The pacing can be a bit weird, and knowing that this si a twelve-episode show, they might just not do a whole lot with the source material they're adapting. But I still think Snowball Earth is a really damn good show, it's a whimsy, fun show that doesn't take itself too seriously and uses it's post-apocalyptic themes to it's advantage and creates a very interesting cast with noticeable human weaknesses.

While I can't properly talk about the show since it hasn't finished airing, PLEASE give this show a shot. I genuinely do not think it deserves to be looked down upon just because it's a mecha that doesn't take itself too seriously.

If you’re familiar with or have good memories of tokusatsu or super robot. No matter how much or little, you’ll be able to enjoy this series—and reunite with an old friend from your childhood. I'm the one who happy with this series.

I see the potential of the story classic love this genre and express them in modern seinen so I don’t want this series to be judged as bad just because of 3D production or robots can talk like humans, after all.

Actually 3D production is very good, but in ep 1-2 can be ... misunderstanding because they put 2d work on the many past and some frame on it. But that's not problem at all because 3D are good action and smooth timing and spacing, and the presentation are nostalgia too.

Yet another CG laden disappointment of an anime. There is no saving grace here. The story is braindead and the villain is very poorly written. The protagonist is just another incompetent looser type who is somehow an ace mechanic. Because genius, I guess. There seems to be only one show worth watching this anime season and its definitely not this. The worst part is it didn't need to be so bad. The story is uninspired and lacking any depth. The characters behave like little kids (even the adults) and not in a flattering way. What more is there to say. The most recent episode was ... a 15 minute long recap of a whole lot of nothing that happened in the last 5 episodes.

I found the premise of the plot quite interesting because it's basically a universe where the kaiju "won" at first, but I feel like something is missing. I feel like this protagonist is a cousin of those protagonists who yell about wanting to save everyone and manages to do everything dramatically or with melodrama, which to me is a way of disguising the fact that the protagonist doesn't have much charisma. A character with real prominence in the story hasn't appeared yet, but since it's at the beginning, I guess we'll have to wait and see. The animation is good and has some 3D elements ... that they try to disguise with 2D, but it doesn't compromise the animation. Is it worth watching? It's kind of hard to say because I want to see the story's conclusion because of the lore, but the characters don't help much.

I regret every moment of the hour this show stole from my life before I dropped it.

Simply put, every element of the show is so stupid that you think it's stupid on purpose for laughs - except it isn't. No, they genuinely made a show with the stupidest plot elements possible and rolled with it straight. I have to figure there was a "who can get the dumbest thing past the publisher" wager going on in the back rooms in the animation studio, that snowballed out of control.

By episode 3, the compounded offenses against storytelling become unignorable and you'll realize that you're one hour closer ... to death because you gave this slop the traditional three-episode try, with nothing to show for it.
