*minor spoilers*
My take on Season 2 is quite different from what I’ve seen from others. I watched it weekly and followed discussions along the way, and overall the reception seemed very positive, with many viewers being impressed. However, for me, Season 1 felt much more solid. It had everything - mystery, tension, meaningful character development, and strong action centered around the main character, Gabimaru. It felt balanced in every aspect. In contrast, Season 2 spends around five episodes in one location, mostly focused on preparation for upcoming battles. This kind of buildup is not inherently bad, but here it feels a bit stretched, which makes the pacing ... Apr 20, 2026
I enjoyed the first season but this second season just pissed me off tbh, I got so annoyed how Tao just magically resolves everything, every single episode or new fight there’s just something new about Tao that just wins them the fight, it’s this convoluted “magic” system that at the end you just space out because it just doesn’t matter you just know the main characters are going to win.
The characters became VERY bland, I really liked gabimaru I thought he was my favorite character on the first season but he became boring too, I honestly couldn’t care less if a character died or not ... Mar 29, 2026
How far will one go to reach salvation? Ask Gabimaru, the man who was once sentenced to be excuted on death row. He has a lot to prove this season with his convictions. And to be honest, Gabimaru's character growth has a lot of potential to be told. This season explores that potential with the rest of his expedition team.
Watching Hell's Paradise Season 2 casts the similar feeling as the previous season. The dark fantasy reminds us the brutality of some characters such as Chobei and his barbaric transformation. Again, we follow Gabimaru and his story. His past has made him the person he ... Jan 29, 2026
3 episodes and it s peak, it has everything u want, animations are peak, story is pretty good for an anime like that, the schizo guy whose wife is most likely nonexistent and just wants to fight the gods from the island, as usual a party where everyone has a different role, fights and dialogue is well structured and you don t see PNGS moving like in OPM, it deserves a better rating tbh, over 8.50, new opening is peak as well, i doubt there is a better one atm unless jjk glazers come and say smth abt it. Conclusion of 3 eps, absolute cinema

With only three episodes out, Hell’s Paradise Season 2 already shows that it came back strong.
The animation is great. The action is well done, hits have real impact, and everything feels fluid and easy to follow. Visually, it stays solid the entire time, and the direction knows exactly when to speed things up and when to build tension. The atmosphere is still heavy and violent, just like Hell’s Paradise has always been. The island continues to feel dangerous, and that constant sense of threat really helps the pacing. The characters are still working well, and here’s the mandatory comment: hey Sagiri, the MC is married, you know ... Mar 2, 2026
Story
The first season was amazing. The pacing and story were top-tier. Unfortunately, this season feels a bit rushed. A lot of major plot threads are being resolved way too quickly without much explanation, which feels a little amateurish compared to what we're used to. For example, Gabimaru’s memory loss arc felt like it was over in 10 minutes, and the group's "training" and planning for the finale got the same rushed treatment. Even Choubei’s side story, while given a bit more time, feels shallow compared to the depth we got in season one. It’s still a good story, but the production value and writing definitely ... Hell’s Paradise season 2 continues to be a decent action series, filled with assorted elements that both keep me interested and make me a little bit more hesitant to continue every time I boot up a new episode. The introduction of more standard shounen battle elements in regards to the functionality of tao gave the series a strong heading in terms of structuring the fights for this season, yet it still ends up not making full use of the tools at its disposal for either strong character moments or compelling battle strategy, especially with Nurugai being dead weight for most of the run time. The first season felt solid with the story, character building and animations but this season was definitely a bridge to the next. The same conversations are rehashed, and old scenes are constantly revisited more than they should be. It has been three years and there are other things MAPPA are working on, but I am sure with the content they had, this could have easily rivaled the first season and made for an excellent conclusion of the series. Overall, it was a slow start but still enjoyable and I hope the conclusion of this series is worth the lack of content in this season.

Season 2 of Jigokuraku is honestly a big step up from Season 1. The story finally dives deeper into the Tensen, and that added lore makes the whole island feel way more mysterious and dangerous. Learning more about who they are and how they work gives the series a stronger sense of stakes.
The action is top tier this season. The fights feel more intense, more brutal, and the choreography is just really satisfying to watch. When the battles start, they go hard. That said, the pacing can feel a bit rushed in some places. A few moments could have used more breathing room, especially with how ... Mar 30, 2026
For a anime that is advertised as an edgy shonen show, it refuses to kill major characters. There is plenty of violent death but it is mostly ancillary characters that are given little or no developement. It is both very violent and toothless with character deaths. Fights end up lacking tension because no one of importance is in real danger. While the animation and direction can be striking in particular scenes, it fails to be consistent in either. It is a shame because the main character Gabimaru is an interesting character. He is motivated by the love of his wife and promise of being reunited

Second season of jigokuraku and they able to maintain the consistency and quality of its story and production.
In s1 everything was making u confused and wondering about the world building and power systems, it was like a big mystery. In s2, the mystery unfolded and they explained it all with backstory about the island, and more explanation about the power systems of tao. And in s2, i like that the algojo and the prisoners were working together to get out of the island, they were bonding really well and i love their dynamic. And for production, it was the same quality of animation, and ... Mar 29, 2026
As you can see, I'm delighted. Everything about it is made to satisfy my taste.
Let's talk about things that I loved the most. First, it's the "mythology" in jigokuraku. I absolutely adore every version of mythology and they made it even more fascinating here. It has a scary, mysterious vibe that perfectly fits the whole storyline. And speaking of the story itself...it only gets better and deeper. The more you watch, the more invested you become. The action and animation are top tier and colors look like they're from another world. It was a pleasure to watch the characters fight (clearly not a pleasure for ... Mar 30, 2026
An excellent sequel!
As someone who was already familiar with the manga before the adaptation, I had certain expectations and a more critical eye. Fortunately, I can say that this season delivers very well and does justice to the original material. It's an adaptation that understands what makes the work interesting and manages to translate that into anime with great competence. The animation is undoubtedly one of its strongest points. The fight scenes are extremely well-choreographed, dynamic, and engaging, managing to maintain that captivating rhythm from beginning to end. But the highlight, for me, is the flames. There's a very evident visual care in them; they aren't ... Apr 28, 2026
This season was mostly focused on fights and action. The animation and motion were excellent, but that came at the expense of the characters, who felt dull. As a result, I lost the sense of fear for their lives.
The power system (Tao) remained vague, with its usage and progression not clearly explained. The story behind the island and its transformation was revealed. I was expecting something bigger perhaps something more monstrous or involving strange creatures but it turned out to be the result of human experimentation. Surprisingly, this was convincing to me, as human greed can be more dangerous than any monster. The dramatic element was weak ... Apr 1, 2026
This season starts out weak in terms of animation quality, pacing/story, and overall tone (resorting to what feels like fanservice vibes at times, when it has been established that the studio is fully capable of depicting these themes in a mature way).
The series picks up a bit at some point, but the pacing still feels stilted all the way up until the last episode. "That's it? That's where season two ends?" is what I said out loud at the end of the twelfth episode. It doesn't feel like we moved very far, and it took us 12 episodes to get here. The character cast ... This is the first time I've ever given a review, and I really have to talk about this anime. It's absolutely incredible! I loved season 1 and had no expectations for season 2. I thought it wouldn't be anything special, but it's the complete opposite. It was a pure artistic masterpiece. I rewatched all of season 1 to catch up, and I literally binged it in one go. It's been a long time since an anime has given me so many chills. I think the author had a real gift when they wrote this masterpiece. I even wonder how it's possible that it only got

Really enjoyed this season overall.
Biggest upgrade is the animation—way more consistent than Season 1, and it really helps the show shine since the world and characters were already strong. Everything just feels cleaner and more impactful, especially during fights. Story-wise, it’s still very effective. I like how it keeps things moving and doesn’t waste time, but at the same time, the pacing might’ve been a bit too fast. With such a short manga, they probably could’ve slowed down certain fights or saved some moments for the final season. Gabimaru’s development is still great, and the group dynamic between criminals and executioners continues to carry the show. It ... Apr 13, 2026
where can i start it was a joke till the first season but in this season our gabimaru gave up on defeating the writers and accepted his fate specially after rebooting its just funny ...he is again fighting for his wife i love yuzuriha specially when she talks with our gabimaru its just great how the dialogues go...
. great fights but the first season did it great at the i end was just bombazzeled here they fought many times but no gabimaru great ninjutsu or yuzuriha's great ninjutsu nuh i dont know see for yourself and tell me... . or maybe they didnt have the power left because ... Apr 24, 2026
Hell’s Paradise Season 2 is basically the show saying: “you survived season 1? cute. let’s fix that.”
This season doesn’t even try to pretend it’s safe anymore. It’s just straight-up island trauma simulator with occasional breaks where someone explains lore and you wish they didn’t because it somehow makes everything worse. Gabimaru is still in that weird zone of “emotionally dead assassin trying to learn love,” and every time he gets a character development moment you already know the universe is about to punish him for it immediately. Like bro can’t even unlock feelings without a boss fight spawning nearby. And the island?? Yeah it’s not a location ... |
