Great sequel to an amazing first season! If you loved the original SEED, then you will adore this one too. Overall, it lives up to the standards of its predecessor, even if there are some issues which caused me to rate it slightly lower (9/10 vs. 10/10). Despite that, I can't imagine watching one without the other. Its the second half of the story and without it, SEED's ending is rather abrupt and unresolved.
The story is actually more complex than SEED, filled with more moral ambiguity and dyanmic characters. However, it is told in an *extremely* heavy handed fashion, so those desiring cerebral and subtle
...
storytelling may find the presentation to be overbearing. On the contrary, those who enjoy anime with a direct style may find it refreshing to see everything portrayed in an explicit manner. If you fall into the first camp, then Destiny (and likely SEED as well) are not for you, but if you are autism brain like me I think you will get a lot out of the plot!
The new characters from Destiny are all great, and have a wonderful dynamic with each other as well as the old characters from season one. At times the original cast can feel like they have diminshed agency (especially during the middle portion) but if you stick it out you will be rewarded with a great conclusion to their character arcs. The generous 50 episode length gives everyone their chance to shine, and all the side characters feel like fully fleshed out people with the attention they deserve. My personal favorite from the Destiny cast was Meer Campbell ;) (Lacus's doppleganger)
The animation and soundtrack are PEAK. The epitome of a good looking 2000s mecha anime. You will never skip the classic OPs filled with banger J-pop tunes. The fight scenes are filled with great military sci-fi action with diverse hardware.
Do yourself a favor and enjoy this wonderful character driven war drama. Don't be dissuaded by some of the negative discourse, there is a reason the core fandom loves SEED Destiny!

Beautiful story of self discovery! Similar to Black Lagoon, the anime focuses a lot on the criminal mind, but less on the rage aspect and more on the alienation and depersonalization. As the story progresses, the personal relationship Kirika and Mirielle build together helps them overcome their dark backgrounds and forge a future based on love, rather than hate.
The way the action and story are portrayed is a reflection of the vibe and mental state of the protagonists. Its almost dreamlike and detached, even during high stakes mortal combat. There is a constant preoccupation with the past and inability to connect with the present. Interactions
...
with characters are fleeting and shallow, except between Kirika and Mirielle. However even the friendship they share is based solely on a criminal partnership and is deeply fragile, at least at first.
The animation is mostly top notch, but can suffer a bit from a lack of "motion" and slow pace at times. The plot also slows down a bit during the middle portion, but if you stick with it you will be rewarded with a wonderful closing arc as the story builds toward finale.
Those who feel "nameless", have a weak sense of self, or feel trapped in a life of hatred will find the conclusion deeply satisfying. Ironically it is their criminal bonds, forged for purely pragmatic reasons, which end up saving Kirika and Mirielle from a life of alienation. It is truly wonderful to see Kirika, who has been deeply abused and isolated all her life, begin to smile and experience genuine attachment.
Lastly, I will add that the bond between Kirika and Mirielle is pretty much entirely platonic, since you may have heard that this anime is "yuri". However, I think it's fitting the way it is since it would seem a bit corny for characters who struggle to have any feelings at all to be in love with each other. That being said, there is some subtext, including a letter from Kirika to Mirielle with "Daisuki", so if you enjoy interpreting the story in that way, you certainly can. But romance is far from the focus of this deeply psychological crime drama.

If you love old school harem anime you will absolutely love this one! Just when I thought they don't make 'em like this anymore, it turns out they sure do. From the rock OP all the way to the battle scenes and abstract ecchi comedy it had me full of nostalgia. The fantasy setting is also completely free of any video game mechanics or reincarnation style isekai!
Also yeah if it isn't obvious its femdom ALTHOUGH it is definitely not limited to that and gender roles are explored in different ways. The premise is basically that another world (Mato) appeared and edible peaches from that world
...
granted superpowers to women (but not men). Women used these powers to fight off demons (called Shuuki) invading from Mato, and of course because this is an 18+ Harem anime their abilities happen to be fetish related half the time. Men meanwhile fell to a social status below women in a classic role reversal.
Most of what became of the Earth dimension is shown to us in flashbacks or brief scenes, while the majority of the story takes place in Mato as the protagonist (Yuuki) enlists in the Demon Defense Forces as commander Kyouka's slave warrior. The overall narrative is about Kyouka's rise to become Supreme Commander and change society for the better, so expect a lot of the conflict to revolve around the girls fighting for dominance in addition to the Shuuki killing action scenes.
Due to the amount of PLOT I would absolutely caution against watching this with anyone except for those already initiated into PLOT focused anime. Ecchi is definitely getting pretty crazy these days, especially if you watch the uncensored version as I did. Although they do technically stop barely short of fucking in typical Japanese fashion (lol). So its not quite hentai but its probably about the closest I've seen an Ecchi anime get before. Probably a great watch with your closest Otaku buddies nonetheless as its not gonna phase anyone familiar with this type of anime.
I almost took one star off because the world building is very rushed compared to the manga but that's an issue with literally all modern 12 episode seasonal anime. So it didn't feel fair and I instead gave it a 10, since for me it has earned a place among my favorites.

The central romance is handled really well, however the world building is awful and most of the supporting cast is lukewarm at best.
I still cannot fully get into this type of isekai anime where the world feels like a prop to tell the story of the main characters. The world could have been more fleshed out if it was conceptualized as its own thing instead of "an otome game", which just allows the writers to do lazy handwaves. You can self-insert as Rae Taylor without the story shoving it down your throat with her being a "hard working Japanese woman" in her previous life.
That
...
being said the romance portion absolutely delivers with mature conversations about sexuality, romance, and love that you won't see in most anime. Claire is a satisfying love interest for those of us fems who grew up crushing on tsundere girls from male targeted anime. Rae is relatable for lesbians who have likely dealt with a lifetime of unrequited love (although she may be tough to watch sometimes for those reasons). While their relationship is full of vulnerability, it is still nice to see a lesbian romance narrative in anime that isn't just told through kink, fanservice, or subtext.
All of the supporting cast is totally generic and forgettable unfortunately EXCEPT for a character who shows up near the end - Princess Minaria. She is introduced as a love rival to Rae for the purposes of adding stakes and conflict, but personally I found her way more attractive than both of the female leads combined.
She is a dominant soft butch lesbian who teaches Rae emotional maturity with relationships and forces her to grapple with the truth of her emotions. She also "competes" (revealed to be a ploy) with Rae for Claire's heart with the stakes being that Rae will be "her's as well" if she loses (spicy). Rae wins the contest by being a Mary Sue isekai protagonist and having advance knowledge of the world, which in my opinion is rather lame and another example of the isekai ruining the story for me. They could have instead used this moment to highlight a change in Rae's character which won Claire over.
Overall I think this one will be satisfying to anyone interested in the GL genre (for any reason, boys included), but probably really boring for those who have a hard time getting into this type of isekai story. I can't speak for those who like the isekai genre but there are many other reviews saying that the isekai story is done poorly compared to others in the genre.

My first harem anime! Its not deep by any means but if you just want an entertaining ecchi comedy with great character design, then look no further! Notoriously, the anime is an inferior adaptation of the source manga, however I still find this entertaining when viewed in a vacuum and not taken too seriously.
Every second of the anime is exploited for fan service, no opportunity is wasted. The camera always gets the best view (constant panty shots), so it almost feels like the girls are in swimsuits rather than skirts. Various fetishes are worked into the plot whenever it is possible or convenient to
...
do so.
The type of harem featured in this anime is one where the girls are pitted against each other for the MC's (Tsukune's) heart. He mostly has a thing for the main girl (Moka) but the plot still finds ways for him to wind up having moments with the other girls too. Tsukune acquires his harem of mentally unstable monster girls by being a kind hearted simp to all of them.
The English dub and original Japanese are both fantastic with a great cast. Moka is standout but Kurumu also has a nice dub voice. Tsukune sounds a bit generic but his voice is also fitting.
While this anime is definitely not for everyone or all contexts, if you like degenerate anime and comedy this one is a classic to watch.

Very much a "turn off your brain and enjoy hot vampire guys" anime. As other reviewers have noted, there is little plot or character development and most of the half length episodes are instead dedicated to sensual blood sucking. An enjoyable watch for some, but if you don't really have a kink for that type of thing then you won't get much value out of this (obviously).
There is also a cozy vibe to many of the scenes and OST which caused me to often get sleepy while watching this. The mansion is kept quite spotless for a bunch of lazy vampires without a maid or
...
butler. The good vibes combined with the female oriented fanservice made it a nice anime to unwind to.
Also, "bitch-chan" is a hilarious nickname.
