This deserves more, much more.

I'm surprised nobody is talking about it. The animation is better than most animes, and the cinematographic way they started it was excellent. I read a little of the manga, and can say this is far more enjoyable, even with the manga being very well-made, too. I fear this won't get the attention it deserves. In a world where isekai multiplies like bananas, this is some fresh air after a long time.

From 10 animations, I'll drop 9 of them. This just somehow survived the probation of making me watch it, rate it, and even write a review on a site ... I rarely use. There will be 12 episodes, and I doubt we'll get more, but you can tell they invested heavily in this animation by the quality of it.

I'll enjoy every episode.

A Wild Last Boss Appeared! - Howdy ho, how are you doing, world! I'm a villain-turned-hero...in sheep's clothing!

Let's be real here: most Isekai fantasy are just trash, period. From repeating tropes that have an abundance of flavours of how the countless and numerous authors out there want to stand out with their own take on fantasy to just ultimately having a plot that may or may not have an end in sight that always usually tends to crash and burn, these are just a handful of ways of how anime has unfortunately progressed, adapting stories from no-name authors since the turn of the 2020s' COVID ... period that just gripes on the detest of its audience, thinking, "Here we go again, the same old, same old."

But what if I can tell you that there is a show within the Fall 2025 season that falls into this exact trap but has enough potential to really flourish given many of its predictable and unpredictable story elements? That's the mark of a quality show, and apart from the nonsense that is Mushoku no Eiyuu a.k.a Hero Without a Class, coming from the same publishing company that both series hail from, Earth Star Entertainment might finally have a W on their hands with novelist Firehead's completed LN series of Yasei no Last Boss ga Arawareta! a.k.a A Wild Last Boss Appeared!, a show that has a lot of similarities to another bigger series/franchise that paved its way towards a rollercoaster fest of mixed emotions.

Playing MMORPGs can be quite the time-waster, but for hardcore gamers who want to achieve nothing but the best, this is the outcome of one such male player playing the MMORPG of Exgate Online. Down but not out, he has accomplished the game's plot and reached its ending as intended, but it's not enough, as he doesn't really feel satisfied after playing as an "unofficial last boss," so he goes completely against the system as his avatar of the female Lufas Maphaahl, turning the game into a battle royale against other players, of whom she's finally (but intentionally) defeated after so much litigation from the other top players of the game. Fast forward to the Game Over screen and a request from the game's admin for another try, and the player accepts the new challenge, in which he takes on the role by being Isekai-ed into the game as his avatar, only to find that the new game he's about to play takes him 200 years after his avatar's defeat, and the new world as it is is mysteriously shaped into a setting that not even Lufas Maphaahl has a clue about. And it's in this instance that the player, as Lufas, begins the radical new journey to find "herself," calm the hell down of the new world getting rampaged by her once in-game subordinates, and solve its overarching mystery.

If this sounds all too familiar, you're not far from guessing the obvious enough, because both the story and its plot paint a similar picture to the massive franchise that is novelist Kugane Maruyama's similarly themed dark fantasy Isekai series Overlord, which started serialization in July 2012, as opposed to Yasei Last Boss, which began in February 2016, by just a few years. In fact, both Lufas Maphaahl and Ains Ooal Gown share a lot of similarities, being overlords in their own right, having the NPCs explore the in-game world to find any form of relation to them, be it from subordinates to friends, enemies, heroes, and the like, and seeing what the in-game world is like from a 3rd person's POV.

So, with the player as Lufas trying to navigate the somewhat "known but unknown" world around her, it's safe to say that friends should be found first, and that role lies with the 12 Heavenly Stars that represent the 12 constellations of the world. But first, it's the assistant role that Lufas needs someone's guidance to walk the talk, and it's the rather klutzy assistant of Dina, who was a nobody and a lean decor artist at her former castle back in her prime days. Still, having someone knowledgeable about the world is better than just going at it alone, and Dina accompanying Lufas to discover what's different from the game's new timeline as opposed to the last takes a keen eye and trust that Dina would do her administrative work for Lufas, since all that she needs to do is to find her comrades from both sides as soon as possible. Honestly, Dina can be quite the joker character who fumbles with her innocence enough, bearing somewhat a similarity to KonoSuba's useless water goddess Aqua when it comes to antics and such, but take no joke, as she's both the joker and the key to understanding the new Exgate, as Lufas would come to know in the later stages.

The character cast can be huge to catch on to, from the various Heavenly Stars that do meet with both Lufas and Dina early on to the seven human heroes that the former knows have defeated her 200 years before, plus the seven demon luminaries who are presumably the "final bosses" of the game, and ending it off with the nobodies who are, in one way or another, still useful in some fashion. For the few that we get to see here, the sheepish femboy of Aries, the robotic golem maid of Libra, and the Capricorn demonic goat-turned-elderly butler of Aigokeros are all sticking together with the Last Boss and her assistant against the principalities of the demonfolk waging their classic war against the Seven Heroes, of whom they look nothing like their old selves due to the curses of both time and enemies alike. "It's a new world," as they say, for Lufas, seeing her old comrades come out in rather worse states than what she remembers them by, though condolences do come out in regard for them for the work they've done in the main game's timeline. Still, this is such an interesting cast and crew that never tries to steal Lufas's time away from the small screen, and their contributions, both good and evil, do have substance to them that makes both the player and his avatar wonder what all of these have to contribute to a flailing memory, one that recalls a past life that gets all the more ominous as bits and pieces of the truth get out. This is where the meat of the show lies, and it really shows that this is not your stereotypical "hero vs. demon lord" generic story that tells of the predictable and obvious from the get-go.

Interestingly enough, the overall production of the show is not what I've expected with such insane quality, coming from a studio that hasn't really dabbled much in any form since COVID times. Sure, as an AniManga veteran, I loved both shows of Fall 2017's Animegataris and Winter 2019's Kouya no Kotobuki Hikoutai a.k.a The Magnificent Kotobuki (co-produced with 3DCG studio GEMBA), both series produced by WAO World when their catalogue of shows was all over the place back then (and even now), though I would not have considered the studio as a mainstay, even within the confines that would mark years of staleness for the production studio itself. They're always treated like nobodies that are left on the wayside until the last choices are left for the choosing, and that's probably a good reason why the animation truly stands out for such quality, with Yuya Horiuchi coming in as a seasoned episode director and having enough experience in both storyboarding and episode directing since his beginnings with Winter 2018's Mitsuboshi Colours to give his own debut directorial show some oomph for quality. Less is more, and this show obligates that quote to the T.

I've long been a fan of Technoboys Pulcraft Green-Fund's music, though for a show of this magnitude, their OST here doesn't really stand out to be honest. And even more for a series that stays true to its dark elements, Kisida Kyodan & The Akebosi Rockets come out swinging with their rock-heavy OP song, something that is quiteout, a contrast to their last Anisong, that being Fall 2022's Tensei shitara Ken deshita a.k.a Reincarnated as a Sword, which was OK at best. Sadly, with VTuber Yuka Nagase's ED song, it's an earworm at best with the repetitive verses, though it's even sadder that the OTP with the former rock band and the late Maon Kurosaki will never be realized again since her untimely passing back in February 2023. Would've loved to see Maon Kurosaki perform yet again for the Rockafelle OST together, but this is as much a tribute to the fleeting memory of the once "rock on" J-Pop power of a woman at a ripe 35 years of age.

With a modest audience, Yasei no Last Boss ga Arawareta! a.k.a A Wild Last Boss Appeared!, has the potential for everyone to grow on it, and while the numbers are there, the one sad thing that's heartbreaking to see is that the show just doesn't get a whole lot of love from the press. I guess that's why people are saying nowadays that "media literacy is dead," and people only come for the action that's represented in visual form and how it delivers that impact as a whole, not to savour its story, which (I think) is somewhat better and interesting to discuss from another angle.

Even more so then, as the saying goes, "it takes one to know another," for that'll determine the enjoyment factor for the show for you, as opposed to hearing my ranting on how people nowadays have decided to forgo story beats for animation prowess. And believe me, Yasei Last Boss is one such example where the story triumphs more than just its action parts, let alone in an oversaturated Isekai fantasy market where generic is the new norm that people have, for better or worse, "accepted" in its bare grace.

A Pretty looking fantasy isekai, with pretty fun world, but nothing more nothing less

I think the main attractive of this show is, this is just a very solid op villain isekai fantasy show. Most of the time in the isekai op villain fantasy show, there's always gonna be a drawback, oh pacing sucks, oh animation bad, oh character like kids, oh the world is boring. However, this show main appeal is that, it's all solid on all side for a villain isekai fantasy show, and that's what I love about it.

Recommend for: Plot, production quality, character design, world building

FULL REVIEW:
First of all, the production quality ... is pretty high. In term of animation, sound directing, OSTs, voice acting, etc. This show is very good. Not only that but the designs of the world, cities, characters, and monsters are also pretty interesting. It's not just the typical goblins, dragon, slimes, or like that. There's weird monsters and cities design all around, and you might quite like that like I do. Action is amazing, and scenery beautiful.

Now the plot. The plot right now while is typical OP character look out the world, gather info, farm stuff etc. It is interesting in a way that it is like a mystery. The MC doesn't quite know everything about the world, and while she is op, need to work a bit to get to know it. Also some politics to look forward to as this could be a nation size plotline.

Lets talk about some might be downsides. First of all is power level. It's the typical power scaling where like S rank disparity with other ranks is huge or Lv something while means a lot in its world, means nothing to the MC. Which while isn't much of a downside, and the show is still fun with that, it quite did a bit of a tear on its world building and power scaling.

Another thing is that the pacing is quite on the slower side of things. With only around 1 agenda finish per ep, is pretty solid. Watching it weekly might be slow for most people. I would suggest to binge it would be better.

So in conclusion. It's the most solid OP villain isekai fantasy anime I've seen yet (since overlord and tensura). While nothing stands out it is quite fun to watch along. Character design is nice nad the plot is interesting. Pacing might be a bit of turn off so I suggest binge watching.

This is the first seasonal isekai I’m enjoying in a long time.

I started this anime as I do with every isekai is released every season, just to fill the seasons with something to watch and maybe to enjoy some episodes of magic and (sometimes) cool battles.
But the first episode of this show was pretty enjoyable to watch. Interesting story, pretty animation, cool character design and a good feeling about the series.
Because of this, for me, the second episode was kinda disappointing, in the way it felt a little boring, cause I wanted to know more about the story, but this episode really ... felt like it was made just to fill some minutes of the show.

Anyway, I just watched the third episode and it has been the same as the first episode I talked about before: really good animation, good OST and amazing character design and storytelling.
So I’m going to keep watching this anime praying it will keep up and to not let me down.

Another thing I wanted to talk about is the inspo from Overlord. I mean, it is pretty obvious. I believe you will find it too if you have watched the series, but I honestly think it’s still pretty enjoyable, even when the story is so similar.

Overall I think it’s a pretty good isekai (taking into account what we have recently watched) and I personally recommend it if you don’t have anything better to watch this season.

A Wild Last Boss Appeared is a genuinely well-made isekai. The director is a fan of the light novel, and that alone tells you we’re in good hands — he’s actually read the original material. On top of that, the quality of each episode so far has been consistently impressive. We’re only at episode four, but the level of care is clear. From the starry reflections in Lufas’s eyes to the battle scenes (and everything in between), every detail feels carefully crafted.

Episode four focuses mainly on the conversation between Megrez and Lufas, who hadn’t seen each other in a long time. It wasn’t just a ... quick, one-minute reunion — it lasted for almost half the episode, which I really appreciated. It gave space to both Lufas and her companions’ past as well as the present storyline, adding emotional weight to the moment.

As for the soundtrack, opening, and ending: there’s nothing to complain about. They did a solid job, especially with the opening, which delivers that surge of energy that makes it clear we’re in for some intense battles… even if Lufas is a bit too strong for some of her opponents.

The OST itself elevates the image of a supreme being. She’s not exactly comparable to God, but she’s seen by all the inhabitants of Midgard not as a tyrant, but as a ruler — which gives the feeling of standing before someone noble and awe-inspiring.

Honestly, I’d love to see a second season, especially since the series is clearly in good hands and the quality speaks for itself. I was genuinely excited when the anime adaptation was announced in August 2024.

And for anyone wondering — no, A Wild Last Boss Appeared is not just a copy of Overlord. It has its own soul and a unique identity.

To wrap it up, this series might not be a masterpiece or something completely groundbreaking, but it’s undeniably well made. So please give it a chance!

As a novel reader, I think this is a great adaptation. I have some gripes with the pacing, but aside from that, this is much better than what I expected from the anime. However, as it is right now, I struggle to recommend this to everyone.

Isekai is an infamously overused genre, with many of the shows being nearly identical to one another, so people are understandably hesitant to jump into an anime knowing that it is an isekai. What separates a good isekai from a bad one depends heavily on how the mechanic is used. When people think of "good isekai," usually what comes to ... mind is the use of isekai in a character driven way, shows that use the trope to place the characters in a fresh environment to push development, much of which can be frontloaded, thus making the show quickly enjoyable.

Last Boss, however, is a plot driven story, not a character driven one, so it's easy to write it off as another seasonal isekai. Most of what makes the story good is in the later parts of the story, most of which has not even been adapted yet. This isn't to say that the early parts are bad, just that it might seem "generic" at first. Most of the characters in the first season are overall rather constant, with not much going for any of them aside from their personalities. The early parts of the story exist to lay the foundation to build off of, and feels somewhat lackluster because of it. The series tries to use comedy to make it more bearable, but how well that works varies from person to person. The larger plot doesn't reveal itself until the last few episodes, and even that is just an introduction to it. It's still enjoyable, and the first season has enough to make it stand out when compared to the rest, but until the show gets a second season, it's just a slightly above average isekai.

I do think the novel is a fun read though, go check it out.

After episode 4 I was ready to start raving and mass recommending this hidden gem. Sure it had some lame tickbox isekai requirement in the beginning, but it very quickly ignored that aspect which is always a good thing when the isekai trope adds literally nothing to the story. The premise was interesting, the MC (Lufas, not the generic weeb piloting her) is cool as hell with an interesting backstory. The fanservice was minimal, and it barely even addressed the gender bending part which was just fantastic. The less we hear about the pointless isekai, the better. Everything was going well until episode 5... Without ... spoiling it, it was a bit of a kick in the teeth. A cruel reminder that anime isn't allowed to be good and must follow the path of the million other trope driven garbage that came before it. My disdain at this episode aside, I'm going to hold out hope that it brings back that energy that it had in the first four episodes.
To any would be viewers, spare yourself the brainrot and just skip the first half of episode 5.

For now, I have to admit this anime is really good — not just the animation, but also the way the story is built is quite solid.

One of its strongest points is definitely the animation quality. It’s clearly above average, and you can tell there’s a good budget behind it because the fight scenes look amazing.

As for the story, it seems to be heading toward a pretty standard isekai setup. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but you can kind of predict how some events will unfold. Still, there were a few moments that surprised me, especially involving the other players. I hope the show ... develops those aspects further, because they’re actually quite interesting.

So far, I haven’t found anything I particularly disliked. While some parts may feel average, it doesn’t take away from the fact that this anime is genuinely enjoyable.

I’d recommend it if you’re looking for something fun to watch weekly or just want to fill the gap between bigger shows. So far, it hasn’t disappointed me at all.

Surprisingly one of the best shows so far this season.
Characters don't feel stiff, story is so far fleshed out with a bit of mystery to distinguish it from classic Isekai stories, animation is solid with good fight scenes, soundtrack is actually amazing, pacing is good so far.
If you enjoy a strong MC that isn't a goody2shoes like many today, and like an anime showing soldiers actually slicing monsters I would say that this is a very solid pick.
If you are disinterested as soon as you hear Isekai, maybe give the first episode a go, it's quite unique in a few ways, if you ... don't like it, you probably won't like the rest either (do watch ep3 for sheep bouncing comedic relief).

Right from the first episode, Yasei no Last Boss ga Arawareta had me hooked. It’s just such a fun show. I can tell it’s not trying to be super serious. It’s what makes it so enjoyable. It’s one of those isekai that knows it’s a bit silly and just go with the flow.

There are many light-hearted jokes and moments that’ll make you grin! The characters are easy to like. It doesn’t try to make deep drama or emotional twists, It just wants you to have a good time and it totally pulls that off.

The main character’s great, the world feels interesting, and the humor lands ... more often than not. If you’re into isekai but want something more laid-back and fun instead of heavy or serious, this one’s a solid pick.

Honestly, it’s the kind of anime you throw on when you just want to chill, laugh a little, and enjoy yourself. Totally worth the watch.

While this originally reminded me a LOT of Overlord I must say that a Wild Last Boss Appeared is not only on the same level as Overlord but after all 12 episodes might just surpass it! The story alone of a reincarnated final boss had me hooked already but the more I watched this series the better it got! Not only with the story, but its overall plot, characters and development from start to finish. The only thing that felt out of place was Tanaka BUT you won't know UNLESS you watch it! Which I 100% recommend that you do! I have always liked anime ... where the MC reincarnates into a video game character that they played in prior so that alone is enough to draw you in. Once A Wild Last Boss Appeared grabs you though there is no escaping!! I found myself binging this WHOLE series from start to finish because it was THAT good!

If this series gets more properties I have no doubt that it will surpass some of the greats and Overlord is one of those when it comes to characters and world building! Here is to hoping the To Be Continued leads to a S2!!!

It's a very special torture to look at squandered potential. There are many choices about this show and story that are simply not for me, and I wouldn't enjoy these even if they were executed well, which they're not at all. That's NOT why I'm giving it such low rating. The fatal flaw of this story is its characters. The story focuses on these characters, but there's nothing really. All the author can manage is tropes, tropes and cliche archetypes: devoid of substance and pushed in our faces with no grace whatsoever.

It's painful. It's all the more painful when you're visited by the flashbacks to ... all of that executed much better: in Overlord. Last Boss borrows some aspects of the settings from Overlord. That's not one of my criticisms by the way, if anything they should've borrowed more - specifically the characters. I wouldn't say the characters of Overlord are rich, but they're colorful and coherent - something that can't be said of Last Boss. It's hard to explain really how much of an empty shell most characters are here. And it's disheartening to see from the comments this doesn't seem like a disqualifying factor to so many of the viewers.

I watch a lot of trash. I watch a lot of shows much worse than this one. Yet this one hurts more because it manages to pull over itself a veneer of respectability, it hides its trashiness with budget and tricks. I can only hope that in time the author learns to actually write better rather than simply appearing to do so. Yet if this series and others like it succeed, I wonder if they'd even think to bother.

At first I was not interested in watching it, because many suggested it and I got a lot of spoilers so I just tried it, the beginning of the story was unpredictable and there were a lot of mysteries but as the story progressed everything would be revealed, for the art style there was nothing special as long as it was comfortable in my eyes I would not complain, the characters have different personalities so the audience will not get bored. the visuals and animation are quite good, the fighting scenes are really animated unlike other fantasy anime and can still be seen by the ... eye so as a viewer you can still see what is happening.

First of all the visuals are very good for an "isekai anime" meaning no powerpoint animation, no still fight scenes. It's the opposite, the fight scenes were very well choreographed and the animation quality was kept throughout the series. It's not mind blowing but its not abysmal either.

The story and lore of the world is interersting enough that i want to see what will happen. Apart from 1 hotspring scene, the anime managed to keep me interested.

The characters did their job. They are not explored in debth but I can't say they are one dimensional either. They have a simple goal and that's it. ... It's not complicated but it's not lacking either.

It's better than most isekai, I recommend it for an entertaining afternoon.

The best anime this season, no contest. It has rich lore, solid story, good characters and godlike action. And hopefully season 2 very soon as this ending just let you wishing for more.

Music and animation: top notch. Even if 3D cgi was used here and there it did not look like it was breaking the immersion. Overall the animation was great - especially for fights where it truly shines. The music was good with the exception of OP song which is great.

Overall: music and animation are done good, no complains in that area at all.

Characters: Lufas herself is interesting and lovable character. Unlike most ... MC's she is mature, levelheaded and OP as f**k. During the story we slowly learn more about her past and her motives and we learn to appreatiate her even more as a character. I will just say, it is good to have such mature and powerful lead unlike 90% of other isekai stories. Joining her is Dina who alone created the most memorable meme about this anime - Dina is sus. Despite that she is funny and very useful in the journey, you cannot help but love her and theorize about her. Next we have Aries, Libra and Aigokeros, three subordinates of Lufas and very powerful beings. Each of them is too emotional when it comes to her and in need of a guidance, which creates all kind of interesting situations throughout the show, making it that much interesting.

Overall: characters are great and there is lot to explore here. There is a bit of enjoyment for everyone.

Story: Standard isekai story at first glance, then the more you learn about it and the overall world the more it drags you inside. Some people might find it boring giving how the fight scenes are few and far between, but to others who are more interested in lore and characters this might be highly enjoyable. In the end, the story is about this - an old unifier returning back to it's old world, seeing how much it changed and what can be done to fix it. Add to that the mystery behind daemonic race, goddess and the rest of your old comrades and you get one deep and dramatic life story in addition to action scenes. Lufas is in the center of it, and watching her change and develop over this journey was enjoyable.

Overall - the story is solid and rich with lore and action. Just the right amount of spice to keep you interested.

Overall grade - 10. And well deserved. No other show this season is near it in regards to enjoyment and quality. I will also watch season 2 when it airs as it will introduce new interesting characters and amazing new fights that will slowly shape the balance of world powers. Easy recommendation from my side, this show deserves a lot more than it received from the community so far.

A trashy isekai, which was enjoyable.

This show is, without a doubt, not a very good show. A trashy isekai. The main character doesn't feel much about getting dragged into another world, nor does he question it.
He starts with no real goal besides finding his 12 comrades. The anime felt like it was just about finding a comrade, defeating them, and then going to the next one, though fortunately, that's only the first half of the season. The latter half is much more interesting, with its plot and characters' twists, and even exploring how the world works. At the end, he actually found a real goal ... and showed his actual personality, instead of relying on the character he impersonates, which was very nice to see.
Though I am sounding negative about the main character, Lufas was enjoyable to watch, since she is a powerhouse of a woman, but not just a mindless war maniac, which I feared at the beginning.
The other characters are fine, but not very interesting except for one, which I will not name for spoiler reasons. The femboy was surprisingly cute and funny😭💢.

Overall, the anime has a rough beginning, but it gets better in the latter half, while being enjoyable most of the time. This is not some groundbreaking good anime that you need to watch, but it was also not a complete waste of time. Watching the first episode will give you a good judgment of the characters and "plot".

Yasei no Last Boss ga Arawareta! is just another one of this season's many isekai/fantasy-adventure anime. There's nothing about it that really sticks out for better or for worse; it is, at best, another "junk-food" series that you can skip without any FOMO, or watch and feel mildly satisfied.

The story revolves around an MMORPG-nerd who is summoned into his character, Luphas Maphaahl, 200 years after she was defeated. From there on, the story follows her (the player as Luphas) trying to find her long-lost allies, the Twelve Heavenly Stars. With this as the overarching goal, the anime follows Luphas and her party as they encounter ... friends and foes, dealing with everything from belligerent devilfolk to systemic discrimination. For the most part, the plot lacked a clear motive. Whether it was forgotten or just never existed, I can't remember Luphas once saying why she wanted to find her old allies, nor can I recall a logical reason for things turning out the way they did. Furthermore, the storytelling was almost entirely "tell, don't show," as viewers are constantly bombarded with infodumps about lore that may or may not have an impact on the plot. This leads to the anime as a whole being quite unengaging. Honestly, the only captivating part was the constant allusion to a plot twist/reveal, which was pulled off well and was fun to try and figure out. In terms of pacing, it was fine. It felt like the story actually progressed, and there weren't any arcs devoid of development, unlike many other isekai. As you might expect, it ended on a cliffhanger with a big reveal to tease the upcoming second season. All in all, the story was a typical isekai concoction that neither impressed nor disappointed.

I would say the anime's strongest point is its cast of characters. The lead, Luphas, is yet another character who falls into the OP-MC trope. However, she/he does have a personality, and it was a joy to see the internal thoughts of the guy trapped inside her body as he tried to navigate this new world. Secondly, we have Dina the advisor (Best girl of the season!!!). She is the supporting character who drives the story forward, providing essential help to Luphas. She is the perfect mix of a comic-relief gag character with a hint of craziness and something darker. I can honestly say she carried the series, and I wouldn't have enjoyed it if it wasn't for her. Moving on, we have the Twelve Heavenly Stars. We don't get to see all of them in this first season, but those we do meet all have distinct, eccentric personalities and come with funny surprises. While fun, it got a bit messy as more of them joined Luphas's journey. Too many eccentric characters in one place can lead to a bit of a mess. In summary, the character writing was good, heavily propped up by Dina.

The art oscillated between average and poor. The animation, special effects, and backgrounds were all below average. For example, flying characters were sometimes animated by simply pulling a JPEG across an undetailed background followed by ill-fitting smoke. You can definitely see where corners were cut. This was especially apparent in the fight scenes, of which there thankfully weren't many. However, where the art shines is the character designs, so much so that they stick out like sore thumbs against the rest of the show. All notable characters had detailed, unique, and really good-looking designs. Their only drawback was that they looked too good in comparison to the backgrounds.

As for the music and sound, it’s average. The show featured a noticeable soundtrack, but if you imagine a typical "battle OST" or "dungeon sounds" or something in your head, you’ll probably be close to what’s here. What I'm trying to say is that yt was incredibly generic. But hey, it was there, so that’s a plus. In terms of technical sound, it was very poorly mixed. The volume shifted insanely between normal scenes and fight scenes. One second they’d be conversing at a reasonable level, only for the show to switch to an explosion that blew my eardrums off. The volume was so uneven that I started to question if there was something wrong with my video files. Voice acting was standard, nothing to write home about. I should also add that the ED was great and earned a spot on my playlist!

My personal enjoyment of this show was surprisingly high. It started off totally average but actually grew on me as it went on. It felt like every episode got better and better, which I prefer tenfold to the opposite. However, as I mentioned, the only things that kept me engaged were the mystery surrounding the twist and the hardcarry by Dina. I enjoyed watching it, but in hindsight, I wouldn't have regretted missing it.

To summarize, Yasei no Last Boss ga Arawareta! is above average for the isekai genre but doesn't really impress much as a standalone work. While there are better shows out there, I don't think most people will dislike watching this, and I'd say it can be enjoyed to some degree by almost any anime fan. I will personally watch the announced second season, though I don't feel interested enough to check out the source material. Honestly, Dina alone is reason enough to watch.

So I'm a LN and Manga reader of this. Now, this review isn't bias even tho I waited a long time for this.
Should you watch this? Short answer? Yes.
Long answer:
This anime is an isekai (game isekai where the main character get transformed into his playable character), althou you don't get reminded of that often.
The animation looks gorgeous, they kept true to the LN and manga in alot of parts and the fights are genuinely high quality (some of them are decent quality, but still really good)
Now for the story:
It's really nothing to write home about, but it is pretty good from what I've seen. ... If you are searching for a good action and mystery type anime, then this can definitely be a side dish for you to gobble up on a lonely friday night. (Yes, I know what you do.)

The story can be a bit confusing/not on point from time to time, but that's really something with pacing and you'll usually get back on track after the next episode.

Overall? Aside from some goofy sound you'll heard on ep7-9 which Idk what kind of CoD 2012 montage thingy that was, it is genuinely worth a watch and I personally enjoyed it!

Highly recommend.
