The show is a fun, light watch.
I think a lot of the negative complaints are from people who don't understand what a parody is. The premise is not original, but parodies mock or exaggerate common tropes and themes. This show does exactly that with common anime tropes, hence the complaints about them, except the people complaining don't realize this is a parody. If you understand that, you'll probably enjoy it.
With that in mind, the show is goofy and is a great watch for turning your brain off and taking it easy. I'd put the absurdity in the same category as Sleepy Princess In The Demon
