Yah after chapter 168 the series got axed and with it my enjoyment of the series as a whole. For being mainly about the mystery and past of all the characters it leaves us on such a large cliffhanger that next to nothing is resolved. Leaving the feeling of what the hell was the point of reading all those chapters if everything is still unknown.

Honestly the series started off on a very good foot with an actually interesting revenge story good characters and an interesting MC. And it kept on being interesting with a more unique take on the time travel revenge trope, then it all fell apart when he joined the academy. Keeping it spoiler free it decimated both the plot and pace of the series with everything coming to a grinding halt.
Like genuinely each chapter just felt like a bore with more and more side characters that the MC knew from the past joining in only for all of them to just kinda be booring. Couple that ...

At the core of the series if it just tackled the comedy aspect presented in the original few chapters the series would be way better off. The comedy itself is mainly stemming from the idea of old medieval king being brought to the present day with all of his ideals about serfs and shit like that. Honestly its a great concept tied together very well with side characters that imo have some great moments and even rival the Mc in terms of enjoyablilty.

This series is the most uninteresting take on the power fantasy genre by adding nothing new at all except making the MC into a living deus ex machina. Thought the series you never get a single sense that the MC is in any trouble at all cause at even the slightest inconvenience the story gives either him or one of his 2 friends the only actually relvent characters in the series another massive power up leaving anyone else in the dust.

This review realy erks me becuase this series has great bones but the execution on the latest chapters is lackluster. The magic system and the world are super interesting with the Mc activly working harder to get better with an interesting enough grand mystery but the latest villian just sucks. Ive read and seen alot of very poorly written isekai in my time but re:monster is at another level of power fantasy becuase its just straight up boring. The Mc is a goblin who has the ability to copy other people's ability once hes eaten them a decently interesting premise. food wars is a series greatly let down by its ending arc the series overall made me fall in love with its characters and who they are as a person but the last arc fell flat on its face. the main villain felt like a nothing burger and the overall arc was just so boring and repetitive that it made me rush through those final few chapters. without it I would most likely have given the series a 10 and would have never written this review.
