The creator of this manhwa has made some other popular ones namely pigpen, bastard and the prequel to this story shotgun boy. In my opinion this is his best work. The main character is great and his character arc is quite compelling. He felt bland and distasteful in the beginning however you learn to like him. The side characters aren't as developed but they have there charm (hopefully a sequel could help fix this), and the antagonists in this case are weird zombie like monsters. The apocalyptic vibe and the fight between man and these overpowering creatures is interesting on its own but watching the
...
main character who had planned on committing suicide after his favorite series completed not know what to due when his body fights for his own life when faced with danger while also strategizing against these creatures is extremely fun to read. BUT I really liked the ending, it gives room for expansion (maybe a sequel) but it also feels conclusive in itself.

This manhwa is almost perfect. I don't really want to spoil much but if you like romance and medieval dramas this one is probably perfect for you. The romance is done in a brilliant way, the side characters feel important, and there isn't really any one individual who holds absolute power in the story. HOWEVER one of the side characters who I found so compelling and was my favorite throughout had a pretty lack luster conclusion. His character arc felt like it was setting up to be great but it fell flat in the end which was very disappointing because of how much depth he
...
had. Otherwise this manhwa is basically perfect.

Probably the best romance manhwa, however this comes with a caveat. The things that I actually care about and found myself taking with me moving forward from this manhwa were its themes that go over depression, acceptance and grief. There's a certain arc that takes place in the middle of the story that throws a certain side character who I believe most people hated at the beginning of the story through a giant character arc that was one of the most beautiful things I've read in the manhwa medium. The main problem is that the rest of the story has romance that isn't bad by
...
any means but doesn't really excel at anything. It's quite funny at times and approaches topics in a mature way, but characters are always coming and going so you don't really get much time to stay attached to a character before the next story starts. If I were to explain this story briefly it would be a culmination of multiple side romances that come together in a weird way at the very end. Two of these side stories (one of them I glossed over above) have nothing to do with romance and funnily enough I found those ones the most enjoyable even though I went into the manhwa for the romance aspect of it. I'd definitely recommend it, quite the tearjerker. I don't cry often when reading but I almost shed a tear for something that happened in a flashback.

Honestly I found it pretty funny. Like its so shit that it's funny you know? There is basically no plot or anything worth telling and it's almost like the story sometimes calls itself bad with how it throws out the names of random tropes. It's basically regression in a high schools setting but the regression isn't even to fix much? The mc had a good life even before he regressed. This is like if I asked god to regress me because I was hungry on February 2nd 2021 and my stomach rumbled in class. Ts is not that deep that I need to be REGRESSING
...
to change the past. Also he lowkey becomes buff way too fast, idk the exact timelines but how does one get abs in a few months? But then again why am I asking for realism to my japanese cartoons?

Can you accept such an outcome?
Slow burn mystery novel combined with Lovecraftian gothic horror. An mc whose weak as hell but has powers that mostly involve outsmarting people. If you read these chinese novels for aura farming and the mc getting all the girls this is not for you.
The mc is broke, bitchless, gets abused by everyone.
But he's the nicest person you will ever meet... probably.
And to top it all off there's a war arc that's actually good, isn't that crazy?
People usually compare this with reverend insanity when it comes to which is the best web novel, but they are complete opposites.
...
Reverend insanity is the mc persevering without any care for the world in order to achieve immortality or godlike power.
While the mc of lotm, klien moretti, is just a normal man. A normal man pretending to be a god. A normal man who feels lonely as he approaches the top. A person with feelings just like any of us but to everyone in the world he's not human. He's a deity.
Fundamentally they are two different stories. One about a transmigrator who just wants to go home, and one about someone who takes advantage of there new life to the fullest.
I personally relate to lotm a lot more and care about the characters more and that's why this story is my favorite story every told.
But all in all at least both the mc's of RI and lotm aren't like rudeus.

Just short of a masterpiece is all I can really say to describe it. There are a couple of glaring flaws with the manga holding it back from being an almost perfect redemption story. These are light ish spoilers but spoilers nonetheless.
1. I think the mc ending up with anyone at the end (especially someone from his school days was dumb asf, this is very minor, but it just ruins immersion because there was no fucking way that would actually happen), ideally he should've just moved on from his past.
2. The main fmc basically has zero retribution for what they did. The mc was 100%
...
in the wrong but the fmc was almost just as bad if not worse. The story shows a cycle of hatred. How bullying led to abuse of power and then more harassment in almost a loop but the main characters aren't supposed to be the bullies. They actually needed to get reprimanded for there actions in order for it to feel right. The mc partaking in community service of somewhat as bare minimum would've shown some repercussions for the stuff that I don't think I need to look up to know is against the law but that didn't happen, instead we got apologies x100? Blackmail into committing crimes is arguably worse than committing the crimes and the fmc does just that. What does the fmc get? She gets a personal therapist to stop her from being a shut in. What does the mc get? Basically torture (justified tho).
3. Why were the mcs actions with his family off screened. The shit he had to deal with after a certain point of the story would have hit 1000x harder if the author didn't refuse to show the mcs life at home. I believe the mc really did "atone" however his "atonement" is not entirely portrayed. It's almost like if vinland saga skipped half of season 2 (I think some people would actually like this but real ones understand my point). Also the first 20 chapters of the manga relies entirely on whether you find the mcs weird humor somewhat funny as entertainment, while also stomaching the horrible atrocious shit that's appearing in front of you.
4. We are going to wrap back to the fmc because she's just terrible. Like I get it. You got bullied. It was bad, but I don't think she looked back at what she did once and genuinely felt sorry. Like I've never cared less about a bullying victim, I felt more sympathetic for kurosawa.
5. The conclusion should've ended with him quitting the gooner shit. Like yes he isn't evil anymore, but his comments about gooning were so "out there" for lack of better words. Honestly I'm still thinking in my head canon that he's just lying for jokes. There is definitely a lot of development though and despite me hating Kurosawa for the entirety of the first 75% that one chapter redeemed everything. I think people who think that he doesn't deserve forgiveness and shit don't realize how big of a decision it was. This was something I don't think some of the most beloved characters would be able to do if they were put in that situation knowing what was on the line.
So I gave it a 10/10. Why? Because it's a manga that went into a lot of topics that aren't discussed often and portrayed a pretty well done character arc. As someone who loved vinland saga, these stories cater to me specifically. With how much glaze it's getting, maybe it will get an anime someday, and I hope when that day comes they tone some shit down and change a bit of it. Kurosawa was edging my limit on what could be redeemed. He wasn't as bad as rudeus but he was damn close.
NOW BIG FAT WARNING RIGHT HERE: IF YOU ARE UNCOMFORTABLE SEEING A DUDE JACKING OFF NON EXPLICITLY FOR 20 ISH CHAPTERS DON'T READ THIS MANGA NOT FOR YOU. Wait, I'm pretty sure that's everyone no?

The main problem the manga has is pacing, these reviews exaggerate it imo, its only really bad from chapters 120 ish - 170ish even that is me being harsh. Binge reading it definitely helped though. The entire time I was hoping the mc didn't pull a rudeus and he didn't. The reason I had these fears was because it felt like the author was walking on a tightrope risking falling into the realm of sin that is writing about the mc dating 17 year old high school girls as a 28 year old adult but at no point was that crossed. You sure as hell
...
feel like it will be for about 50% of the reading time which might put people off before the reveal happens. The comedy is mostly meh, I never smiled at the jokes but I can see some peoples humor resonating with it. The characters are good, I have nothing much to say except that it feels like the characters who could've been explored further were rushed when it mattered. Pacing is the issue, a certain moment that was very important to a character was resolved in a few lines but then the author circles back on some of the most easily resolvable problems on other times. Common tropes that you see abused everywhere feel honestly well done in this manga, it's just that again it uses a lot of overdone tropes. There's definitely a lot of growth that can be seen, and the ending feels satisfying so going in for the long haul won't feel awful. It's just that every chapter tries to edge you and then gaslight you into thinking that the thing that was expected to happen in that chapter will happen soon and then it doesn't.
If you enjoy the whole high school drama shit that mangas do, you will likely enjoy this more than most of them. If you don't like that but enjoy stories about self improvement you might like this one (it's hard to judge because I can't even tell if the mc changed, like he was lowkey a good individual from the start and his "trauma" that was built up from the very beginning gets fixed pretty quickly).
Just don't for gods sake watch the anime ovas. It's just not good. Season 1 is good, but the ovas adapted 100+ chapters into 4 episodes. That was not the way to solve the pacing. I'm being generous here, but I do really think that this manga is better than most of the shit out there and probably deserves the decently high rating on MAL.
Overall I'll be lenient and give it an 8/10. For it's genre I enjoyed it.

Most of these reviews are coming off of the first three episodes. And as an anime only lets just say the first 3 episodes are rough. Extremely fast, the changing between different pieces of the story felt choppy and they used minimal effort to actually consolidate these things in between these points. Overall the first three episodes were enjoyable but really did feel like they were hurting your own comprehension of what's happening. I stuck with it though and progressively if you are able to grasp everything it throws at you early on the building blocks to the concepts that follow are quite easy to
...
keep track of and sometimes later on (episode 10) I think they might've went overboard with how they explained what was happening and what is to come which contrasts how the series had started. But this show despite having an extremely fast start was able to hook me in and deliver one of the greatest experiences I've ever had with a show. The finale to season 1 was amazing, might be my favorite episode out of any show ever and they did a really good job setting up and making you care for a select few of the sizable cast in only 13 episodes. Klein Moretti is an interesting main character however it's quite clear the focus wasn't directly on characterizing him in the season at least not until the grand finale. Great show, but i recommend making sure you grasp what the show needs you to understand in episodes 1-3 before trekking forward as they are an important foundation for the great ride to come.
