As of writing the translation is fairly early on in the chapters, but I ADORE this manga so far!
As far as plot goes; mix an introverted girl with a love for making drinks with an outgoing, gyaru oni girl who needs to be offered drinks to survive! Watch as the girls end up growing their relationship and themselves with the help of each other. I've personally never dabbled in mixology or bar tending but it's clear some love and thought was put into the presentation of the drinks and explanation of how they're made. I've started looking forward to what drink Naori will make next,

For those who've read/watched Call of the Night (aka Yofukashi no Uta), this manga is literally just that same plot done again but swap the vampires with ogres, put it in a college setting, spice it up with some yuri, throw in a stupidly vast showcase of different alcoholic beverages for good measure and you got yourself 'Alcohol and Ogre-girls'. All jokes aside this manga is nothing less than adorable.

This manga is seriously underrated!
If you like japanese mythology, cute girls, yuri, and alcohol then this manga is for you. Alcohol and Oni Girls strikes a perfect balance between cute slice of life and high stakes action that'll leave you asking for another round. The dynamic between the main characters is grounded and fun, despite the semi-fantastical setting of an Oni falling in love with a human. As a long time yuri fan I cannot wholeheartedly recommend this manga enough, and I can only hope that someday it becomes popular enough to have an anime adaptation too. Please give it a read! Lovely work. Natori and Hinata have an extremely magnetic aura, their relationship not only to each other but to alcohol as well is core to the story. Alcohol carries a different weight to each of them but it all comes together through their shared earnest appreciation for it and the company they give each other. It makes each of their drinking sessions so intimate and you can't help but bounce your knee waiting for the next time they can get a moment together.
They are far from the only interesting pair in this work. There's a human doctor and nurse oni pair, and an idol oni ... |
