It really doesn't seem familiar on the surface but both manhwa's contain a sickly female lead who might die one day. That isn't the reason for this review though because I think both manhwa's handle grief and pain really well. Even if it isn't on the surface while you read through you can see hatred, grief, pain, probably even more I can't think of off of the top of my head. I feel like they handle the subject matters really well and if I want to read a deep manhwa/another deep manhwa then I could recommend these together! You just feel so much love/hurt for the characters in the manhwa that it's really hard to ignore.

Nostalgic atmosphere and attire of the past - episodic visitors with a bittersweet backstory.

While not similar on the surface I see the two pairings as similar even if in different ways. Sharina is the confident female lead but it takes an opposite turn in Asahina Wakaba & Her Chubby-Chubby Boyfriend where Haruto is the confident male lead! The male lead and female lead (male lead as well for Asahina Wakaba & Her Chubby-Chubby Boyfriend) are social outcasts and aren't popular for their gloomy/strange nature. That being said male lead's aren't a lot of peoples ideal types but the female leads fall in love with them anyways! Both manga's also take place in a school setting. (one has magic though)

Both manga are about characters getting a second chance in a fantasy world to save their friends and party members, while using their advanced knowledge to make the journey easier. New game plus style series.

I LOVE MONSTER HUNTER

If you enjoyed that kind of story, this one is definitely worth checking out, as both share the charming dynamic of a confident, teasing girl and a shy boy who easily gets flustered. However, while one focuses more on growth through playful provocation and awkward moments, the other takes that same foundation and adds a deeper emotional layer by introducing a physical barrier that prevents normal interaction. This makes every moment of closeness, teasing, and affection feel much more meaningful. The result is a beautiful balance between humor, romantic tension, and softness, perfect for anyone who enjoys watching two very different people slowly connect and fall in love.

These stories feel very similar because they both explore an unconventional dynamic between an idol and a fan, subverting the usual roles of the genre. It shares a similar appeal to Yancha Gal no Anjou-san in the sense that both feature a confident, teasing girl and a more reserved boy, but the tone is noticeably lighter and more openly affectionate. Instead of relying on harsh or embarrassing teasing, the interactions feel playful and flirtatious, with the girl showing clear interest and warmth from early on. This creates a more balanced dynamic where the boy is still shy but not constantly overwhelmed, allowing their relationship to develop in a way that feels sweet, relaxed, and emotionally safe rather than tense or provocative.

Female leads start out weak but slowly grow as a person and realize they have to do anything to escape their family situation realizing them staying will only let them end in ruin Male lead's hide their identity at first and get closer to the female lead through that fake identity Both manhwa have interesting plots even if they're a little slow (in my opinion) It's nice watching the female lead's grow as people and is the reason for me to read both of these manhwa's

The main lead has a foe that has went back in time/reincarnated Female leads are weak at the start but slowly grow stronger as the series goes on and they become reliable people. both of fl's families suck but slowly start to fall apart because the main foe is arrogant in their plotting

Male lead's could be seen as someone you would but also would not expect Stories after villains who are kind of realistic, at least for their environment. I could see a sister hating her sister because of attention reasons and the pressure nobility puts on them the same way I could see a family of nobility being weird and evil. (maybe i've read to much slop though) The only thing that doesn't really make sense is how its been that way since they were young with no exact reason (for My Sister Covets My Fiancé) Female leads start off weak but slowly gain the mental strength they need to get out of their situation which is really fun to read happen I just see these 2 as really similar but it might just be my opinion

Gay undertones. Monster/Supernatural entity that is feared by a small, rural town and kind of evil but doesn't mean to be. The creature just wants to make friends.

Both manga involve a weak protagonist, going through harsh training in order to fight within families involved with the criminal underworld in some way.

Both include a relationship between a streamer that does erotic content and their schoolmate who happens to be a fan. The vibe isn't exactly the same but I'd say it's fairly similar

I'd say Devilman is the grandfather of this style of manga and is such an easy recommendation for anybody who likes Chainsaw Man. At their core, both are stories of half-human/half-devil protagonists caught in a war for survival, featuring lots of action, gore, and some irreverent comedy. If the Chainsaw Man ending left you cold, I highly recommend Devilman as a series that not only plays with the same themes and tropes, but also manages to land the ending in a more satisfying way.

If Boichi's "Marshal King" scratched your itch for a western manga and the hiatus has left you wanting more, I'd recommend checking out "Green Blood". Both are fun, action-packed stories featuring outlaws and gunslingers, and although the "Marshal King" tends a bit more toward comedy, both are cheesy enough (in a good way) and very enjoyable.

One of the main characters has encountered terrible events in the past, until causing him/her to suffer both physically and mentally. One day, another main character came into his/her life. and then came to heal his/her heart.

The protagonist is through the pain of past events. One day she went to live in a new place and meet new people in that place. These groups of people have their own stories or pains as well. It is the story of people who have pain in their hearts who come to heal each other. causing each person to start to be warmer and happier.

The protagonist is a shipper who ships and enjoys with other people's romance.

The plot is about a gag of a protagonist who is an assassin. When they are dissatisfied with something in their target, they will kill that person out of personal anger, which is related to love.

There are professional characters: Spy, Assassin, Police and Informant, where they interact for some reason. Even if it's full of characters that seem serious. But most of the story is a comedy genre.

It's the sequel

(This is more so for the Madoka Magica series in general) If you liked the concept of witches and their domains then these are perfect for you! The characters in "The Perks of Being an S-Class Heroine" are just as weird but also terrifying as madoka magica's. It's where the witches/dungeon monsters feel like they're actual threats throughout. (Though a lot look more human in "The Perks of Being an S-Class Heroine") Both series contain a main character going through multiple time loops having a goal to save the world/someone they know but with the idea that maybe it'll never end. The main villain is also a huge twist if you don't know who it is at the start of the series. Just a lot of simialr aspects in both series where I feel like I can recommend it very easily if you liked one series

The dynamic between main characters is very similar: there is some mystery connected to the girl, jealousy and desire from the male mc. The girl simultaneously feels unreachable and close.

Young person trying to break out in movie making industry, the story covering both personal connection to art and how to approach it, and the actual technical side of making movies.

They both have the magical girl villain elements, and are both ecchi and have fanservice, but the main character (the one who is mostly the one that the fan service humor happens to) is 32 as opposed to the 14 year old Utena.

Over-the-top battle action where a laid-back guy fights wizards.

Supernatural comedy where a straight man deals with supernatural shenanigans with a family aspect and lots of emotional heart.

Post apocalypse battle anime. Humans revolting against supernatural forces with a focus on groups and some inter-group politics.

If you like BL with smaller tops and big bottoms and are cool with age gaps you might like Shota x Oni. There isn't any smut in Shota x Oni yet but Tsubaki the younger character has fantasies about topping and domming Yuu. It's slice of life with more of a comedy focus than Evelogia but if you like one there's a high chance you will like the other.

If you like Chikan Otoko you'll probably like this one (and vice versa). Both of these manga offer something unique. Most of the other recommendations for Chikan Otoko only have very surface level similarities (wuh! the main character is a le otaku outcast! so is this one!!! top recomended!) but I'd say this one is similar in spirit!

Genre parody with the main character being kinda aware of the tropes. Main characters actively refuse to participate in BL romances they are being type-casted into.

Both wholesome stories with romance that relies on stacking many small cute moments between the mc and heroine. As a result, there is progress while nothing feels forced or dramatic. You'll find the character dynamic very familiar, with the lead girl being confident with who she is, and the lead guy starting off overly aware of his surrounding thus making him insecure. They are all likable people. Yamero suki ni natteshimau gave me butterflies I haven't felt since reading bokuyaba years ago.

Spoilers abound. A subset of people (alchemists/witches) do Magic! by drawing very fancy circles. The adventure starts with a child that tries to use this magic without formal training, causing their [insert family member here] to be stuck in an inanimate form. Some moms may have been harmed in the transition. Reversal is the goal, but it will be sidetracked somewhat by bigger, worldwide conspiracies by the governing bodies and cabals that were established some odd hundred years ago. At some point, they find that the magic can be a bit Soylent Green (i.e. people). But they don't stop using it because magic is way too cool for that. In FMA's case, this is partially explained by the fact that the sacrifices were a long time ago, so it's more like tomb raiding. For WHA, it's probably because most were animals (maybe?), and our main characters aren't vegetarians.

Both manga have a similar light atmosphere with simple artsyle. They're both humoristic slice-of-life with fun characters. They feel good to read and makes you happy.

By the same mangaka. Similar characters and designs, a lot of recognizable tropes that Mochizuki writes about. Very high-concept plot, intricate world-building, and very heavy exposition that forces you to figure out some of it on your own. Intricate and well-written, two of my favorite mangas of all time.

The Boxer in same sense is about a kid who dk what he's doing with his life and goes to use boxing to find the reason for his life. More than the start both comics ended in a similar fashion where the mc finds the reason in life

Have fun with that!

If you enjoyed chainsaw man you may want to try out After God, it has a similar setting in the sense that both worlds a plagued by horrific monsters, chainsaw man having devils and after god having gods or "IPOs" as they call them, while im only 15 or so chapters in at the time of writing I would highly recommend it if you are looking for something similar to chainsaw man but with a little more psychological and eldritch horror elements sprinkled in. So far im loving the direction that the story is taking and am absolutely in LOVE with the art style.

Where as Gunka No Baltzar excels at showing the mid 19th century period of warfare. Groundless excels at depicting post WW2-esque small unit combat tactics. Gunka no Baltzar focuses on politics and is quite optimistic as a whole while Groundless focuses far more on the interpersonal dynamics of the unit and the horrors of war.

The two stories share many similarities: In True Education (Get schooled), the protagonist is an adult who lived endless suffering during high school, so he takes revenge on current bullies and the story is built around that. In Devil Returns to School Days, the protagonist travels back in time after suffering from bullying in his first life, in order to take revenge on everyone responsible for what happened to him. The events of the two manhwas differ, so if you like one, you will likely enjoy the other as well.

Both stories revolve around someone of royal blood and with special abilities. Overall settings and vibes are very similar, as we have similar "mythological creatures/bloodlines". Plus main characters in both mangas form a found family and some kind of harem (but well, obviously, one is straight and the other one gay). The found family is very protective.

Both male protagonists have a pretty similar personality, which leads them to experience pretty similar situations and relationships

Both series feature: romance, yuri, depictions of sexual interaction, characters managing emotional damage, a dark tenor, gravitas over titillation, and quality of writing that is a cut above what you usually get in the genre. Neither series is a 10 but both are good reads.

If you liked a story with high-stakes action and characters you can actually root for, this one hits the same notes perfectly.

Very strong focus between the female and male main characters, both sharing a heart-breaking relationship with each other as well as a strong cast of side characters. The art for The Pale Horse is a step above, with an unconventional yet beautiful art style that amplifies the themes of the story. Both works share a lot of similarities towards each other, so if you liked The Spark in Your Eyes, you'll be in for a ride.

Both are cute romances with a premise of translation between languages - though Shufuku no Ceska is fantasy whereas A Sign of Affection is modern-day, both are sweet stories.

I find that both have the same absurd tone.Both have incredible panelling and artwork.Also its incredible how good a worldbuilding both have.They get me the like the same vibes

They are both game-like systems in a murim setting. The characters are similarly meek at the beginning but grow over time as their strength increases.

If you liked Promised Neverland because of the crazy story, epic monsters, and heart-rending friendships, then you will definitely appreciate Claymore!!! Both have amazing world building and twists in the story that you couldn't see coming. The character and monster designs are out of this world amazing! But the friendships and character development are really the true stars of both mangas. Highly recommend!

Absurd hypersexual comedies set in fantasy world that have some actually lovable characters.

Both series are about college educated twenty something girls from Japan that are reincarnated into dying young girls from a fantasy world (while Urano from Bookworm also died in Japan, it's not entire clear if Kaoru from Household died in Japan, as well). Both girls are transported into families that are financially destitute and both girls are physically weak at first. Both use their natural intelligence, advanced education, musical skills, and their Japanese handicraft DIY and cooking skills to survive and prosper. However, both girls are also constantly blinded to their new world's realities due to their previous world's common sense, so they make a lot of mistakes and their are both put in danger due to how successful they become. Both girls also to to their world's respective Royal Academies and ultimately have the same, expected result due to their advanced education and natural intelligence. There are some differences - Kaoru/Patience is a born noble daughter who inherited advanced etiquette from the original Patience, as well as being a dyed in the woods shotacon and a total brocon to her younger brothers. Whereas Urano/Myne is born into a commoner family (whom she loves dearly), but also need to learn the ways of nobility afrom scratch.

The relationship of Chiiko/Satoshi and Ichirou/Sachiko are really similar, but the first couple are younger. Both are low class clouples, having to deal with the difficulties of living in a Japan that's passing trough a recession. It feels like Sekitou Elegy (even the names of the mangas are similar!) is an extended version of Sekishoku Elegy. Also, in chapter 16, there's a reference to Ichirou/Sachiko, with both couples living in the same apartment!
