Coco got her bag wet this episode but i think this was pretty easy to avoid with either a better bag quality or maybe a spell that repells water. I know that it would only be for a niche use but a witch is nothing without their equipment

I think it’s mostly a teaching strategy. As a teacher you provide them with instruments to resolve a problem, afterwards they should find the solution themselves, if they actually think that is a big nuisance.

I don’t think that adult witches themselves have any problems with it and even if they aren’t prepared, they just make something up on the fly. It’s is in fact the biggest part of being a witch - adaptability. You can specialise in something, but for “normies” you are practically a handyman.

Later on there will be way more accent on it, on how each witch should be able to adapt to a whatever situation they find themselves in.

What adds to this is that Coco is Quifery’s apprentice, of all people he should’ve developed some sort of spell to make an object hydrophobic.

This show is a series of "why don't they 'insert obvious innovation here'". I guess it is easy to overestimate medieval engineering because of presentism, but I think this show goes the other way, severely underestimating it.

The show seems subdued enough though, and doesn't try too hard in terms of logic and world building, the author didn't bite off more than she could chew, thankfully. It's precluded from being anything close to a masterpiece though.
