Story
Recently, MAL's Easter bunny ran into someone who told him he should be in a zoo!
Sure, a petting zoo might be nice to relax when he wants some attention, but bunnies aren't real zoo animals 💢
So MAL's Easter bunny decided to was high time to teach everyone which animalsreally belong in the zoos.
Instead of giving out chocolate to good MAL members, he's off touring zoos and aquariums! (Isn't this just a vacation?)
Please follow his tracks to find 16 chicks (normal route) or ?? eggs (hard route) he left along the way.
But be careful about the lions and crocodiles!
13.53, 87.54 and 22.57, 88.37 walk into a bar and a hindu deity comes out.
How to Play
1. Choose a route: Normal or Hard.
If you're new to the event or do not have a lot of time, do the Normal route! Please, the hard route is actually very hard.
2. Solve the hints to find the anime/manga/character entry. We are not expecting you to have seen/read all these anime/manga! Searching a few keywords along with "anime" "manga" "myanimelist" etc. will bring the entry up in Google and/or the MAL search box.
Normal route: The keywords you need to search will usually be given to you directly in the hint. The difficulty will be selecting the right keywords. Hard route: The keywords will often not be given directly. Answers to the hint or oddities within the hint may be the keywords you need to search.
Reminders/Tips
Use incognito mode to improve search results.
If you aren't getting any relevant results on Google with your current search terms, try rearranging the word order!
Attempt #1: libraries at war anime myanimelist
Attempt #2: wars in libraries anime myanimelist
Attempt #3: library war manga site:myanimelist.net
...etc.
Remember the theme! If the hint is leading to an entry that's not related to animals, the zoo, and/or aquariums, then you are most likely in the wrong place. Cats and dogs aren't in the zoo!
Remember the hint! Just because an anime appears in your search result does not mean that the anime relates to the hint. Please think about whether it makes sense or not.
3. Find the chick/egg and letter in the Pictures of the correct anime/manga/character entry. Normal route: You will be looking for letters inside a chick outline, like on the Gudetama picture. Hard route: You will be looking for letters inside an egg outline, like the Toshokan Sensou picture.
Make sure you write the letter down!
The images with the chick/egg will always appear on the last picture of the image gallery in a database page: Anime, Manga, Light Novel, Character. Chicks/Eggs will never be placed on second seasons or spin-off OVAs or mini-character anime. They will always be on a main entry OR on the character IF the hint relates specifically to that character.
4. Find the next hint in the same anime/manga/character page you found the chick/egg.
Hints will be visible on one of the tabs of the entry that you found the chick/egg, excluding: Stats, Reviews, Recommendations, Interest Stacks, Featured, MAL x Japan.
Clickable hints should be clicked!
Hints will not be inside other related database entries unless the relation/link text itself is a clue. Look for anything unusual.
If you're on an anime page, the hint will not be inside a character/people/manga entry, unless the link title/picture itself is weird.
If you're on a character page, the hint will not be inside the anime/etc. entry, unless the link on the character page is weird.
Spoilers on a database entry do not need to be opened, unless the spoiler button itself is weird.
Sometimes Easter words (e.g. egg, rabbit, bunny, usagi...) or Story-Themed words (e.g. zoo, types of animals ...) will be included to help you see what's a hint, and not legit info.
5. After collecting all the letters, unscramble them to get the hint for the final anime/manga/character entry!
You will need both the scrambled and unscrambled phrase for the Google form, so don't delete it!
There are tools online that can help you unscramble phrases. Pro tip: We usually include an Easter or Story-related word in the final hint.
Finally, doing the hunt will look something like this...

I found the image hint of the "cute chick", but I cannot understand how any of that relates to the theme. I read the story of the protagonist in 404D and gathered that it refers to a popular legend, but I can't seem to find the next chick on any such entry.

You are on the right track. Think about what type of animal might do one of the words there, instead of searching the words themselves. Remember the theme!
