The official website of the Boku no Hero Academia (My Hero Academia) anime series announced a short anime subtitled I'm a Hero Too on Saturday, scheduled to debut this summer. The anime, a part of the tenth anniversary celebration project, is adapting the one-shot manga from the 2025 fanbook Boku no Hero Academia: Ultra-Age.

The one-shot, drawn by the original creator Kohei Horikoshi, follows high-school student Eri visiting UA High after the events of the main series.

Produced by Bones, the first season adapting Horikoshi's action superhero manga aired in Spring 2016, with the second to seventh seasons airing between Spring 2017 and Spring 2024. The final season aired in Fall 2025, with the series culminating on May 2, 2026 with the Boku no Hero Academia: More (My Hero Academia: More) episode, also a part of the tenth anniversary project.

The side story movies Futari no Hero, Heroes:Rising, and World Heroes' Mission opened in Japan in August 2018, December 2019, and August 2021. The fourth and latest movie, You're Next, premiered August 2024.

The original manga drew inspiration from Horikoshi's Boku no Hero (My Hero) one-shot that was published in the 2008 Winter edition of Akamaru Jump. The manga featured in Weekly Shounen Jump between July 2014 and August 2024, with Shueisha publishing the 42nd and final volume in December 2024.

VIZ Media simulpublished the manga in English with the Japanese release. Shueisha's Manga Plus platform also simulpublished the manga in multiple languages, including English, French, Thai, Portuguese, Indonesian, and Vietnamese.

So, are we getting some kind of soft epilogue? I've heard that this manga supposedly continues the story a bit, but I don't know the details.

@RobertBobert the manga had 3 endings showing different perspectives on the characters lives the OVA that just came out was focused on the theme of "people are more than their jobs or aspirations" and should pay attention to their personal desires the short special was more of a final send off showing eri moving on with her music and giving a send-off

@yamiyugi101 I see. I still need to finish the penultimate season and watch the last one from scratch, so I'm a little confused about the order.

@Yubisoft Yes how low they've fallen because they *checks notes* choose to adapt readily available manga content that not everyone has read into anime form.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

Take me back to the days before MAL became infested with Twitter's favorite buzzwords.
