Grisaia no Kajitsu

Yuuji Kazami is a transfer student who has just been admitted into Mihama Academy. He wants to live an ordinary high school life, but this dream of his may not come true any time soon as Mihama Academy is quite the opposite. Consisting of only the principal and five other students, all of whom are girls, Yuuji becomes acquainted with each of them, discovering more about their personalities as socialization is inevitable. Slowly, he begins to learn about the truth behind the small group of students occupying the academy—they each have their own share of traumatic experiences which are tucked away from the world.

Mihama Academy acts as a home for these girls, they are the "fruit" which fell from their trees and have begun to decay. It is up to Yuuji to become the catalyst to save them from themselves, but how can he save another when he cannot even save himself?

Fruit of Grisaia is an adaption of a visual novel by the same name. I'm surprised they managed to squeeze several routes and all that relationship-building in just 13 episodes.

You've got your waifu relationships, ecchi, harem building, and extracurricular school all in one story.

I have to say that I was shocked by some of the things the MC did in some of the episodes, like "Wow did he really do that?" in a good way.

Compared to the later games/shows in this series, I'd say Fruit is the best one. The others were somewhat disappointing, focusing more on backstories than on ecchi (lol).

Mixed Feelings

TLDR: Read the Visual Novels if you want the full experience. Otherwise, this is a passable, if overly condensed, slightly altered, entry point into the series.

I don't envy anyone that has to adapt a lengthy, acclaimed visual novel like Fruit of Grisaia into a single 13 episode anime season while having it turn out as good or as fleshed out as the source material, so for what it is, this adaptation tried it's best with moderate success.

Most of the core story beats from each route are present, albeit in a heavily watered down and somewhat altered form. This unfortunately means, however, that Yumiko's story, ... which relies heavily on the romance plot between her and Yuuji, lost the vast majority of it's story progression and interested viewers will need to read the visual novel to truly experience it.

The other routes falter similarly, as none of them get the screen time to truly explore the events and the traumas that caused these characters to behave as they do or the resulting consequences of their actions in many cases.

Amane's route gets the most screen time, and thus ,fares the best. Much of her story involves being immersed over an extended period of time in the struggles and suffering she experienced during that time. Naturally, such an experience is difficult to truly capture in such a short time and so the VN is, again, essential to truly experience this gut punch of a route, but the anime does a decent job of adapting it.

What this show does well is give viewers a compact, animated summary of the comedy and the incredible story that the visual novel does so well.

Overall, this is a decent entry point into the series if you don't want to read the visual novels, but if readers do have any interest at all in the VNs, I would highly recommend skipping this anime and reading the VNs instead, as the stories and characters are far more fleshed out and will have a much greater impact than can be experienced through the very heavily condensed version shown in the anime.

I'd love it if they could take another crack at this in the future with an extended season or maybe several feature length episodes, but I doubt that'll happen. Also, maybe tone down the panty shots too.

This Anime had solid animation throughout, and the character designs and personalities were genuinely appealing 😁. For a while, the story felt decent and headed in an interesting direction… until episodes 11 and 12 completely shifted the tone. Those final episodes left me more shocked than anything, and the sudden intensity honestly felt a bit overwhelming 🫣.

There are still many unanswered questions about the MC, and it feels like a lot of important details were left out or only hinted at. While parts of the series were enjoyable, the overall experience felt uneven to me.
Except the episodes 10,11 and 12,this anime just went good and ... some emotions
This anime just had my bad parents that got my nerves
