If you're a fan of horror, gore, and the kind of bleak, industrial sci-fi that Tsutomu Nihei is known for (e.g. Blame!), then Grand Metal Organs might be right up your alley. It delivers a similarly transhumanistic and dystopian atmosphere, complete with massive megastructures and a gritty, oppressive tone that fans of the genre will likely appreciate.

The art style is a perfect match for the narrative. It’s gritty, detailed, and unsettling in all the right ways. The backgrounds are dense and chaotic, evoking that same overwhelming feeling of scale and decay found in Blame! or Dorohedoro. The action sequences are well-paced, with the gore serving a purpose rather than being there just for shock value.
As for the characters, they aren’t fully fleshed out yet, but the groundwork is promising. They exhibit enough depth and mystery to make you want to know more, and their interactions with the world feel grounded given the brutal setting. There’s definitely potential for them to grow into more nuanced, morally gray figures as the series progresses.
Overall, I think fans of dark, post-apocalyptic manga will find a lot to enjoy here. While it's not for the faint of heart due to the graphic content, Grand Metal Organs offers a stylish, thought-provoking ride that stands out in the current manga landscape. I have high hopes for how it develops from here.
