Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

After a horrific alchemy experiment goes wrong in the Elric household, brothers Edward and Alphonse are left in a catastrophic new reality. Ignoring the alchemical principle banning human transmutation, the boys attempted to bring their recently deceased mother back to life. Instead, they suffered brutal personal loss: Alphonse's body disintegrated while Edward lost a leg and then sacrificed an arm to keep Alphonse's soul in the physical realm by binding it to a hulking suit of armor.

The brothers are rescued by their neighbor Pinako Rockbell and her granddaughter Winry. Known as a bio-mechanical engineering prodigy, Winry creates prosthetic limbs for Edward by utilizing "automail," a tough, versatile metal used in robots and combat armor. After years of training, the Elric brothers set off on a quest to restore their bodies by locating the Philosopher's Stone—a powerful gem that allows an alchemist to defy the traditional laws of Equivalent Exchange.

As Edward becomes an infamous alchemist and gains the nickname "Fullmetal," the boys' journey embroils them in a growing conspiracy that threatens the fate of the world.

It takes a while for FMAB to really get into the juice of the story. About half the episodes is heavy story buildings and getting to know the Elric brothers and slowly understanding the world of Alchemy. I took a long break cause there were other animes that seemed more interesting right off the bat at the time. THEN, you hit a little more than halfway and suddenly all hell breaks loose. You're left on a crazy cliffhanger and on your toes every episode. I ended up binging the last 12 episodes cause I couldn't handle the suspense.

All the characters and villains are masterfully ... written, too. While at surface level the antagonist seem evil just for power, you learn about the deeper motivations of each homunculus. So many times, you're left feeling bad for the enemies, despite them just beating up Ed and Al moments before. Loved it!

Modern shows like Jujutsu Kaisen, chainsaw man far surpassed this in story, characters, hype, entertainment factor, fights everything.
The hype for fmab seems to come from it being everyone's first anime
As they say, before u have any taste u must first have no taste
So fmab is something I was recommended as my first anime as well
Thank God, I didn't watch it and watched toradora as my first anime and became a romance fan (When I was a teenager, those stuffs hit harder I guess)
Anyways
Then I watched like 300 anime of different and unique genres, and most of the well talked about anime that ... didn't hit mainstream popularity
then I finally watched fmab for the first time
Because of the constant pressure of how I haven't yet experienced the peak of anime that is fmab apparently
But turns out
and it was bland AF
I've seen better story than this, better fights, better well everything
it was painfully mediocre
but I didn't give up on it
had to see what the hype about it truly was
But it just couldn't kick in
just painfully Ubisoft Esque
besides the ep3 or 4 shock (which is only shocking to a baby at this point) this anime felt safe, generic and unimpressive

Which brings me to the conclusion
People say fmab is good, but if they had seen enough anime before watching fmab, they probably would find it as boring and bland as I did

But if I have to praise it
The openings and endings are a bomb
Opening 4 is one of my favorite ops of all anime
But that's kind of all I think about this anime

It's a 15-year-old finished anime at this point, nobody gives a huge shit about it anyways

Most overrated anime of all time. I only watched it because a lot of people say it's the best and blah blah blah... There are so many much better anime than this one. It's definitely one I'll never bother watching again. The story starts giving you a feeling of something much grander and ends up as a nothing special anime. The only really good thing is the music of the first opening. The good side is the originality of the story and you don't see other anime doing the same or very similar things.
Honestly, I don't know why to rate this anime MAL forces me ... to write a giant review while in others I can write anything.
