Data servers turn water into steam through a highly efficient process known as evaporative cooling. As high-performance servers (especially those running AI) process data, they generate massive amounts of heat. Cold water is pumped past the hot equipment, absorbing the heat and turning into vapor or steam to be vented away, cooling the facility in the process.

Salt water evaporative cooling utilizes the absorption of heat through water evaporation. When water turns to vapor, it draws thermal energy from the surrounding air. While freshwater is standard, utilizing saline sources helps conserve freshwater resources, particularly in arid or coastal environments.
The Salt Dilemma: As water evaporates, the salt stays behind and quickly becomes highly concentrated. If not managed, this rapidly leads to corrosion of system parts, scaling (crusty salt buildup on pads and pipes), and clogging.


Molten-Salt Reactors (MSRs) are advanced nuclear fission reactors where the fuel is dissolved in a molten salt coolant, allowing operation at high temperatures and low pressure, which enhances safety and efficiency. Unlike conventional solid-fuel reactors, MSRs can be refueled online and have a negative temperature coefficient, meaning the reaction slows down automatically if it overheats.
