Look Back
lowkey just realized you could blog on this (lol) so 4 first entry, ima review 1 of my fav moviez XD As an artist, i find this movie so relatable 4 one reason: You'll never b good enough. Fujino desperately tries 2 better her art in hopes of proving herself upon seeing Kyomoto's art. for a year (+?) straight, she neglects her own needs until the day finally arrives and she realizes something. She had improved, but so has Kyomoto. In that moment, she decided to abandon art as a whole.
eventually, her teacher sent her to give Kyomoto's graduation paper. From then on, she realizes Kyomoto is different then she expected; And moreover, Kyomoto admired Fujino's art and even asked for an autograph
slightly off topic but the art in the movie is SO GOOD. the scene of her going back to her house showed so many strong emotions, beautiful symbolism, and overall was just amazing. this also was the same reason I lowkey almost cried at the end. The art really brings so many emotions and life to this movie.
back 2 the review tho :P this connects the 2 girls together, allowing them 2 use eachother to grow and improve. they even write a one-shot together ^o^ the whole sequence was amazing and so heartwarming as well.
1 of the main conflicts was at the end. Fujimono wanted 2 b a mangaka while Kyomoto wanted to go 2 artschool 2 become a better artist. The fight scene was 10/10 and both perspectives were amazing. so they end up seperating until Fujimono gets some news. A axe murderer was at Kyomoto's art school and she didn't make it (that scene was so said). You can feel Fujimoto's shock and grief through the screen, and its overall one of the most realistic portrayals of finding out a loved one has passed. It ends with her making a comic strip of what she could've done and how she could've saved her and I honestly almost cried T^T
in conclusion.... A 19/20 Movie and overall a 9/10 :p
Art and Animation: 5/5 Beautifully captures the scenes and emotions
Story: 5/5 Pacing is good and the story is clear and very artistic
Characters: 4/5 Complex and well written. Very relatable (maybe a bit too relatable)
Themes and Messages: 5/5 Shows what it came to show very well
