Personally, I think the anime is pretty good. If I had to point out a flaw from my perspective, it would be that the anime didn't do a great job fleshing out the backstories for characters like Sigma, Flat Escardos, and Alexandre Dumas.
However, one part where I think the anime really excelled was the fight where Haruri Borzak summoned Huwawa (True Berserker) vs. Bazdilot Cordelion. When I was reading the novel, I had a hard time picturing that fight—it described something like the world turning upside down. But the anime visualized it so much better, which was great to see. Also, the desert fight between Hippolyta and Alcides was absolutely top-notch; the sakuga and the OST were amazing and complemented each other perfectly.
It does feel like the anime tried to cut out a lot of the Nasuverse inside jokes and references to make it more accessible to a general audience, which is a bit of a shame though. What are your thoughts?"
But this phrase ("This is one of those rare cases...") is usually said in two contexts:
Exaggeration: to emphasize the quality of this particular book, even if other books are also good.
Recognition of the power of the visual work: Sometimes a film or series is so successful and popular that people forget the original, and the reader comes along and says, "Despite the film's greatness, this is a rare case where the book overwhelmingly surpasses it."
So, technically, "yes" is the case almost every time, but the phrase is used as a kind of exceptional praise for the book.
With all respect.
Nice to see someone who spreads a good word about this light novel
