The 5-toubun no Hanayome Special Event 2026 in Toyota Arena Tokyo announced a new television anime and new original video anime for the franchise on Saturday, revealing a project visual and an announcement promo.

The new television anime series is based on Hajime Asano's 5-toubun no Hanayome: [Shunkashuutou] (The Quintessential Quintuplets: [Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter]) sequel novel. Produced under the full supervision of original creator Negi Haruba, the story depicts the daily lives of the Nakano sisters throughout their final year of high school and serves as a continuation of the original manga. A manga adaptation of the novel is also currently in progress.

Produced by Tezuka Productions, the original 5-toubun no Hanayome (The Quintessential Quintuplets) television anime aired in 12 episodes in Winter 2019. Bibury Animation Studios produced the second season in Winter 2021 and the subsequent sequel movie in May 2022. The franchise also includes two television specials, 5-toubun no Hanayome ∽ and 5-toubun no Hanayome *, which premiered in September 2023 and December 2024, respectively. Crunchyroll simulcasted the anime, while Funimation also streamed an English dub.

Haruba originally published the romantic comedy series as a one-shot in Weekly Shounen Magazine in January 2017. Regular serialization of the manga began in August 2017 and ended in February 2020. The 14th and final volume published in April 2020. 5-toubun no Hanayome has a cumulative 20 million copies of its volumes in print.

Asano began writing the romantic comedy light novel based on Haruba's original story. Kodansha began publishing the series under its KC Deluxe imprint with illustrations by Haruba in January 2025. The third volume went on sale in September 2025.

Kodansha USA began publishing the manga in English in June 2018 and released the 14th and final volume digitally in August 2020 and physically in July 2021.

The 5-toubun no Hanayome won the Shounen category at the 43rd Kodansha Manga Awards in 2019. The series previously ranked eighth in the Manga category at the 2018 Next Manga Award.

5-toubun no Hanayome OVA on MAL

I'm just looking forward for the Shunkashuutou (4 seasons) because from what I've heard, it's the quints' story in their 3rd/final year of high school.

Also, I've been intrigued by the original source, which is the light novel earlier last year, the same time where the LN is added into MAL. Sadly, I CAN'T find a way to read it online, which makes this even more exciting to see!

Honestly, the announcement of new anime/OVA is not that surprising (i.e. expected). This is because every time there's a 5-toubun event at Japan (announced at their Twitter), they would announce at least ONE special. Look at the 2024 (i think) event, the special "*" is announced. Same goes with the 2023 event, where the special "~" is announced. I bet the new OVA would use "_" lol.

There is no doubt that the production committees are milking this show, considering the fact that 5-toubun ended years ago. I wouldn't be surprised if we get 5-toubun no Hanayome: After Story 4th Season Part 2 sometime in 2056.

Though there's a part in me where I'd love to see the quints again. Hopefully Shunkashuutou isn't just fillers like "*" (based on what I've heard). Instead, it would be a season where it strengthens the quints' bond with each other.

Thanks for reading my yapping thoughts.

I'm satisfied with the ending but more Quints is always a good thing, at least for me.

The Quints are still popular in Japan and they like milking it, I was there in November last year and and the anime had a collab with Atre Akiba and a couple of stores in Akiba.

I think at this point they know that their fan base is going to watch it regardless.

I guess to keep milking the series.

About Dealing with Mikadono Sisters Is a Breeze I can tell you from now that it is doomed to be buried due to the fact that Ayase Yuu looks like a femboy and acts like a girl and rarely almost never like Fuutarou or Kasukabe Hayato. It is pretty niche content which also why Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie was also doomed to stay niche

rushed everything before, drop ovas and specials and now announce even more content.

are we winning or losing?! WE WILL BE WATCHING THO!!!! truly the harem of all time.

@Sleabedybarb, I like it.

KEEP MILKING THAT GOLDEN COW
@Memore No fucking thanks, the anime was an awful adaption and already had an original ending that fucks up everything

I really enjoyed Quintessential Quintuplets when it came out. I feel like there hadn't been anything like it. I enjoyed the characters quite a bit and was initially curious how the story would unfold. But I really disliked the romance build-up because there really wasn't much tension there. When the girls

it felt forceful and unwanted. He had already made up his mind. Not how you really want a romance to go.

These additional OVAs and seasons after the heroine has already won is not very desired.

I'd much rather see Tying the Knot with an Amagami Sister, The Shiunji Family Children, Dealing with Mikadono Sisters Is a Breeze to name a few harems that I'd love to see more of. Of course it will never happen given the popularity of the Quints but it's disappointing...

I'll likely watch this. But wish we could get something else.

If they are gonna adapt skipped material, why even skip it in the first place?

Such fate of most successful harem manga of last decade.

>Rush S2 and the movie, do extra chapters, a sequel novel and a one shot, adapt some skipped chapters in 2 OVA, adapt that sequel into anime and do more ova.

At some point it's goes beyond just milking, and it just turns into an infinite money glitch

I understand that this is an OVA with previously missed material, and I'm guaranteed to watch it. But I can't shake the feeling that this has long since become too obvious milking of the title.

Better announce Sentai Daishikkaku 3rd season.
