Dungeon Meshi

Adventuring knight Laios Touden leads a small party through a seemingly endless dungeon, a subterranean maze full of dangerous monsters and precarious traps. Through the use of advanced magic, an explorer can sometimes be resurrected, allowing them to learn from past mistakes and give traversing the dungeon another go. However, when a powerful dragon eats Falin, Laios' spellcasting sister, she sends her brother and his companions back to the beginning to save them from permanent ends.

Though strapped for cash and equipment, Laios resolves to fight his way through the dungeon and rescue Falin before she can be digested by the dragon. Despite some of Laios' allies abandoning him, two remain by his side: elven mage Marcille Donato and halfling locksmith Chilchuck Tims. Due to their lack of funds, the party faces the daunting prospect of starving before being able to complete their quest. However, they find salvation in Senshi, a dwarven warrior with a penchant for cooking and safely eating defeated monsters.

With Senshi's culinary expertise, Laios and his companions struggle through the dungeon while learning about gourmet dining—and each other—along the way.

its been a long time i couldnt find a comedy that is grounded and sensible. a comedy that is balanced and realistic.this is the show that filled that hole.it is a seinen anime. and fulfils its duty as one. absolutely loved it for how engaging it is far better that the comedies where you cant see the story progressing.
the story is one of a kind. never seen anything like this before.
the artstyle absolutely fits the story.
all the characters are not fully known yet and we dont know everything about every body but idea oft what their motivation is and the way they act is clear. ... as a low cognitive show - job done well.
yes it feels realistic.
people in 20s ot later , who prefer realism realistically portrayed in fantasy. will like it more. thats all from me

Mixed Feelings

Delicious in Dungeon is a unique blend of high-fantasy dungeoneering and culinary exploration. While it has been widely praised for its "refreshing" take on the genre, it can be a polarizing experience for those who enter with specific expectations. At a 6.75/10, it stands as a solid "Good" series that may feel "wack" or unappealing if the character designs and slower pacing don't immediately "grab" you.

​After their party is wiped out by a Red Dragon and his sister Falin is swallowed whole, the knight Laios is left penniless and starving. Determined to return to the lower levels and rescue her before she is ... digested, Laios and his remaining companions—the elven mage Marcille and the halfling rogue Chilchuck—decide to do the unthinkable: live off the land by hunting and eating the monsters within the dungeon. Joined by Senshi, a dwarf with a decade of monster-cooking experience, they embark on a gastronomic quest where "to eat is to live."

It treats monsters not as "poorly drawn" supernatural entities, but as biological organisms with anatomy, behavior, and nutritional value. The "world-building" is arguably the show's strongest suit, weaving together D&D-inspired mechanics with realistic environmental survival.

However, the "character build" and tone can be a major "bump in the road." The story begins as an episodic, "creature-of-the-week" gourmet show, which can feel "uninspired" or even "irrelevant" given the urgency of saving Falin. If you're looking for "rock-hard, satisfying storytelling" right out of the gate, the slow shift into a more "sinister and serious" plot might feel like a "failed" promise. The humor—often centered on the characters looking "a bit dumb" or hyper-fixated on food—is a "personal preference" that either clicks or feels disjointed.

​The characters are designed around their "weird specific passions," which can make them feel caricature-ish initially.

Laios Touden: His "monster nerd" obsession is the driving force of the show. While some find his lack of emotional urgency regarding his sister "wack," his fixation is the lens through which we learn about the world.

Senshi: The heart of the group, he provides the "human understanding" (or dwarven understanding) of how to nourish the body and spirit. His "traumatic history" with the dungeon eventually adds a layer of depth that contrasts with the earlier comedy.

The monsters are creatively designed, but the "appealing" factor of the humanoids is intentionally more "grounded" and less "generic anime."

The show has some redeeming qualities, and the characters are good, but frankly (despite knowing what it's name is) the show is dragged down by all the monster cooking. Just slows down the story most of the time, and it stops being funny pretty fast.
In addition, it's so weird how casual and not in a hurry the characters are 90% of the time despite them being on a time limit to save their friend. They have to save someone with like a month but they almost NEVER act like they are in a hurry. Just makes the overall story ... feel not important

The show would have been better without the cooking and characters just focusing on helping their friend as an adventure story. Would have been much better as the dungeon and adventurer side of the show is pretty good.
